More Zero celebrations

Hi all.

In the upcoming posts, I will be sharing a multitude of same concept, different spin ideas that I have done for friends with ZERO birthdays.

Recently I have a Blog Buddy that celebrated one such milestone!!! I have never met this gal, but she has a passion of coffee (a kindred spirit indeed)...take a bow Leonie Schroder. Now I had to take a bit of a stab-in-the-dark with a colour scheme, because trawling through Leonie's blog did not really give up any real clues!!!

The idea I had in mind was this FAB and super cute Bird House post it holder by Cynthia Richards. I downloaded the tute and started to work. Essentially it is easy peasy to put together, the only real modification I made was at the base with adding a Round Tab Punch to help it sit up a little better. I also added a wee slip for the pen to go to through at the base. Given the gift was based around an easel format, I made a matching card too. Here are the two together.......

closed.......

...and open in all their easel wonder......

The bird houses are made identically for both the card and holder. I sponged ALL edges which made a big difference actually!!! There is fine detail all over with texture in the bird wing, the roof and even the letterbox lid!! Here is the card and the post it holder detail close up......

The flowers were stamped with the "dotty centre" from the Mixed Bunch stamp set and then the flowers were punched out and layered.

The bird sits pretty on a branch from the XL bird punch and the post box was done with the 1 1/4 inch square punch, double punched just to nip a corner....if that makes sense. The post is a word window punch cut lengthwise and trimmed. on the second pic you can see how the addition of the round tab punch helps the whole thing sit.

There are MANY punches, pieces and things used in this and I will try to list them all. If I have missed anything out, ask the question when you leave a comment and I will get back to you with an answer!!

Thanks for popping by....much more to share very soon....including a fab teen male card!!!

Seaworthy Male - I

Morning all.

Something short and sweet today. I found this card on the amazing Jacque Craig's blog. I love this set for masculine cards. All the images have a brilliant old world charm. This is my version of her card....

As you can see I kept most of the elements all but the compass. Once I worked out the dimensions, it all went together very quickly. You have to love the intricate image of the ship and the easy sentiment stamped straight onto the DSP.

I will be back soon with another "Open Sea" card. Thanks for popping by.

Stuff Used:
CS: (SU) Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Nautical Expedition DSP
Ink: (SU) Early Espresso
Stamps: (SU) The Open Sea, Sincere Salutations
Other bits: Dimensionals, Cappuccino Bakers Twine from the "Twinery"

Craft Camp - #6

Morning all.

Welcome to what is the last of my Craft Camp projects (yippee I hear you all say!!) I have left these till last in the vain hope that I could get a proper picture of them...but alas....bad weather and light became my undoing!!

My inspiration for these cards came from this card by Mickey Roberts. These are my versions......

Initially I had these cards with nothing behind them like Mickey's, but I then thought it needed something more....so I ended up putting some vellum behind them. This gave it such a wonderful look IRL.

The little labels are done with the new Framelit dies and an embossing folder.

Here are all four lined up together..........

Again, I sincerely apologise for the horrid and dodgy photography. Sydney over the past couple of months has not been kind to crafters who wish to take pics of their creations!!!!

Thanks for enduring my Craft Camp creations for this year. I will resume normal crafting insanity very soon....promise!!

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Concord Crush, Whisper White, DSP Stack II (In Colours 2011-2012), Vellum (from Alice in Paperland) and Hot Pink, Pink, Bright Blue and Yellow CS fm Connie's Creative Scrapbooking,
Ink: (SU) Concord Crush
Stamps: (SU) Sincere Salutations
Punches, Dies and Embossing: (SU) Wide Oval Punch, Ribbon Lace Border Punch, Labels Collection - Framelit Dies, Textured Impressions Embossing Folders Set
Other Bits: Dimensionals, Double sided tape

Vintage flowers

Morning all.

Remember how I mentioned that I was a LONG way behind with my posts....well I discovered this one from January that for some odd reason had not made it yet!!!

Becky Roberts is an amazing paper crafter and it is from one of her creations I took a direct CASE. This is Becky's card. This is my version of Becky's card.......

To me the flower appeared a little flat....so I lightly curled the edges of the petals a little and came up with this.....

It made such a huge difference don't you think?? Here is the difference side on.....

Did you also notice that there is no neutral colour CS on this card...no white and no vanilla!!!! Who'd have thunk right??? The sentiment is stamped directly onto the DSP. Here are the 2 cards together.....

Thanks for popping by. I hope you are all enjoying the Easter break and didn't OD too much on those eggs.

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Always Artichoke, Rose Red, Springtime Vintage DSP
Ink: (SU) Early Espresso, Soft Suede (for sponging the petal edges and leaves)
Stamps: (SU) Sincere Salutations, Best Yet
Punches/Dies: (SU) 5 Petal Flower Punch, Fun Flowers Bigz L Die
Other bits: Buttons, Mini Glue Dots, Neutral coloured embroidery floss

Flower Fun to Die For.......

Morning all.
A bit of a bonus post for you this sunny Sunday (yes....I said sunny!!!!!!!!!) Sydney finally has a golden orb in the sky for a change with some heat behind it....woo hoo!!!

This week at Our Creative Corner they have a "Best Friend" theme going. You have to create a card, 3D project etc to let a best friend know that you are thinking of them. It also HAS to contain a flower!! Now my Bestie's birthday is not for another month, but I have many WONDERFUL friends that have birthday's in the nest week or so. Well with this in mind, I had an idea or 2 bouncing around my brain.

I also received an order of My Favourite Things dies that I had been very patiently waiting for and was BUSTING to try them out. This is what I came up with.....

Now this card is VERY out of the ordinary for me. I do not do square cards that often, it has a lot of pink in it...another not to frequent occurrence and i also managed to tie my first double bow!!!

The MFT Dizzy Doily and Fancy Flourish dies are so intricate. I loved working with them. I think they are definitely gunna get a massive work out.I used a Bow Easy to tie my double bow.

I cut out all the flowers and the dimensionals really got a workout here, but the flourish/garland was so pretty......

Thanks for popping by again. I may even have another card or two for this challenge....but I will think about it for a bit. Thanks also to Michelle at The Stamp Spot for the MFT dies.

Addit......since posting this and sending a link to Michelle, I have now also entered it in The Stamp Spot Sketch challenge for February.

Ink: (SU) Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzaz
Stamps: (SU) Vintage Vogue, Sincere Salutations

Botanical Fun

Morning all.

I decided that I needed some quick and easy cards. So as usual, I went to SCS for inspiration. Now I thought I had noted the name of the creator of this card, but sadly I cannot. So I just wish to say a big thank you to the original creator. This is a direct CASE of her card.

I love it when you can add a little extra embellishment to cover up the occasional inky oops....don't you??

The other wonderful thing is that you only use half a flower.

Just a quick one today as a couple of my last posts have been a tad long winded.

Thanks for popping by.

More Post Christmas Birthdays

Morning all.

Like most, I struggle with masculine cards, so when I come across a good one, i make a couple of them and put them away for a rainy day. My darling Dad turned 71 in the 1st week of January, so I needed one for him. my FIL also had both knees replaced in the same week, so I needed a Get Well Soon card for him. I found the inspiration here.

I tend to go to Lovely as A Tree as my "male" set. These are the 4 versions of the card I found.

Now on the original card, i believe it was stamped onto Frostwood Lodge DSP. We do not have that here, so I made my own by using the retired Rough Texture Wheel. I inked it up in Crumb Cake and then randomly drew Early Espresso lines across it, stamped it off and then onto the Very Vanilla CS. I loved the result.

They also looks kinda cool all together......

Now Miss 7 also wanted to make a card for her Grand-dad's birthday. She sat and designed the card all by herself and I helped her punch out the shapes. She stuck them down and assembled it and then I helped line up the stamps.

Thanks for dropping by again. I do so very my appreciate you all taking the time to comment.

Pockets of Sympathy

Hi all.

Sometime back I did some CAS birthday cards here. With some thought and a little tweaking, I altered them to add to the sympathy card stash at work. I made a mixture of male and female tones. Male being early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Night of Navy and female tones of Regal Rose, Perfect Plum and Concord Crush. The male cards were on Very Vanilla and the female on Whisper White.

Rather than show you all of them, here are the female ones.....

I think these appropriately fit the bill as (thankfully) so did the Practice Manager.

Thanks for popping by again. There is so much more to show you, so please keep dropping by.

Stuff Used (in the cards shown):

Ink: (SU) Regal Rose, Perfect Plum, Concord Crush

Co-ordinated Gift Set - #1

Hello all. I hope for those in Sydney, you are all surviving the school holidays.

A little while back, I made a CAS card which got me to thinking here. I had 2 birthdays of girls of a similar age (one turning 13, and one turning 14) and I was wondering if I could make the card into a pretty box for their desks. This is the version of the card I made to go with the box for Miss 13....

I thought about what shaped box may transfer well to the card design and I decided on a Top Note Die Box. I based it on the tutorial here. I modified it slightly in that it is a rectangular Pizza Box with a Nestabilities Label 8 die top and bottom. The dimensions of the box are roughly 12cm x 8cm x 3cm ( 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 1 1/4 inches). This is how it turned out...kinda fab if I do say so myself....

And here is the first set together....

Sorry about the glare and shadows, it is either feast of famine with sun and wind around her at the moment.....LOL!!!

I'll be back soon with the 2nd one I made soon. Thanks for popping by.
