Baby Fun #1 - Girls

With the recent birth of my beautiful baby neice, naturally I would have a post on some baby cards about. The cards in the next couple of posts actually went to my work as we have a lot of prospective Grandmas and co-workers. It is a veratible baby boom coming. So here are the ones I did for the girls....

The following is a CASE from SCS here.

Finally a slightly different take, a tag that is Cuttlebugged with a plain tied behind so that it can be written on. I love the simplicity of this tag.

There are a lot of things used in these cards, so if you have any questions about the things/inks/sets I have used, leave a question in the comments and I'll get back to you.

My 1st Bot!!!

My very best bud (yeah Tracey!!) Gave me a set that I had been HANGING out for for a very long time.....Lots of Bots!! I love this set.....especially for little boys. Our young neighbour turned 9 recently and so it was the perfect opportunity to bust out this set and ink it up!! Mast 10 (self proclaimed "DUDE of cool" chose the bot for this card...and it was only after I had mounted it...that I realised the "get Well Soon' bot...indeed has a busted arm!! (note to self...look closer next time..LOL!!) Here is the finished product...

...and a close up of the sentiment...

I love the combo of black red and silver for a male card.....as you saw for Robbie's 50th card not so long ago!!

You will no doubt see more bots popping up from time to time as the boy birthdays continue.

Thanks for stopping by.

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Basic Black, Whisper White, (non SU) Metallic Silver and Red textured (fm stash)
Ink: (SU) Basic Black, Real Red
Punches: 1", 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" circles

3D flower Fun!!!

I am now entering into a time in my life where there are a lot of "ZERO" birthdays about....mainly 40!!! Some time back, I learned how to make a 3D flower card at Alice's. Here is the original one I made some years back.

I have played around with it over the years and mainly done it for those close to me with zero birthdays. A couple of weekends back, I made it again, this time for a Mum at my kid's school, who turned 40.....and I made it in (Andrea you should be seated....PINK!!!) Now given that there is a highly reflective surface on the card......a CD...it is hard to get a good picture, but here is the result.

The flowers are made with Carla Craft punches and put together with silicone glue, which gives them their 3D feel. I also got to bust out my new Martha Stewart "Double Loop" punch.

Here is a close up of the flowers.....

All the leaves and flowers are hand scored. It is time consuming, but the end result is definitely worth it. I hope you like this card. I have done it in pastel purple, blue and yellow also.

Catch you all next time.

Stuff Used:
CS: Pink Bazzil, Metallic Silver
Paper: Stardream Pearlescent White, Pink and Light Green
Punches: (All Carla Craft) CP-11G Sakura, CP2 Sakura, Leaf, CP1 Sun, CP21 Rectangle, Leonie-M Mini Sun, Martha Stweart "Around the Page" Double Loop Punch.
Extras: Old CD, 3D mounting foam, Silicone glue, Upkit Silver number, Cornices and Presents Stickers

To BOLDLY go.....

Hey there everyone.

Now before you think I have gone all sci-fi and gone astray with Capt Kirk....the title refers to this last challenge from Swap Sisters......BOLD BRIGHTS!!

Now the only BB I had really used before was Real Red...and that was for Christmas things...although I discovered I had more of the stamp pads/markers than I thought (which was wonderful!!) This is what we were set....

Now...my first thought was to reach for my sunglasses. After that....I started to think RAINBOW and the seeds of a card were sewn. After a LOT of measuring and calculation, here's what I came up with......

I was happy with the result. I did have to swap Pixie Pink for Pink Passion (but I cleared it with the powers that be first!!) I have left room in the bottom right for a sentiment as I am not sure as to what should go on it. I also made a mental note NOT to cut out too many of the butterfly bodies...as thery are very fiddley!!!! All of the butterflies are popped up on dimensionals to give a 3D feel.

I can't say I will reach for this colour group again, but I sure had fun playing with it. hope you all have a bright and fun-filled kinda day.

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Summer Sun, Tempting Turquoise, Only Orange, Pink Passion, Whisper White
Ink: (SU) Pink Passion and Tempting Turquoise, Summer Sun and Only Orange Markers
Stamps: (SU) Butterfly Prints
Punches: (SU) Butterfly Punch
Other bits: Dimensionals.....and a WHOLE lotta measuring....LOL

Some SAB CASE fun...

The one thing I love about papercraft is inspiration. You see something somewhere and you can CASE it. Alternatively, you can see something on someone else's blog, use their idea and then put your own twist on it. Either way, both applied to the following cards. I firstly saw these cards on the amazinly talented Steph's blog here and I bleieve she found the inspiration from somewhere else.

These cards are so quick and easy I can see myself doing a LOT more of them. Here are my versions.

and the other...

I have used the Happy Moments set from the 2010 SAB. I had some glitter in my stash that nearly matched the SU colours exactly and I used my chalks on the other ones. Too cute and soooooooooo easy!! Give them a try.

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, Kraft, Whisper White.
Ink: (SU) Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, Basic Black
Stamps: (SU) Happy Moments SAB '10, Polka Dot BGS

Swap Sisters Challenge #8 - Go Green

Swap Sisters threw down the challenge of recycling an everyday item into something else. Let me start out by saying that this challenge went ON AND ON...until I was content with the final product. I wanted to re-use/recycle the item, but I also wanted to go a step further and use up those little bits of scraps that we all have lying around the place. I also wanted to try some of the FAB flowers that are around out there.....so the result was this challenge piece.

So here is the BEFORE...

...and the magical AFTER!!

I based everything around the "TEA PARTY" DSP and the co-ordinating colours, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Almost Amethyst and So Saffron. Here are some close ups of the flowers......

The 'speckles' on the Whisper White were done by using one of the stamps fm the "Itty Bitty Backgrounds" set and randomly stamping them in each of the 4 colours. The leaves were punched in the respective ovals, folded in 1/2 and then put thru the crimper and opened out...PS.... LOVE this effect!!!!!! Here are some pics of the bow (So Saff grosgrain) and the back of the jar.

Hope you like this project. I now have a central place to put all the "BITS" I get...and then I can sort them later.

Thanks for looking.

There are lots of things used in this project, so if you have a question about anything I have used, just let me know in the comments and I'll get back to you. Thanks for stopping by

I have a good excuse!!

Hey there people. I am very sorry for my lack of posts lately, but I do have a good excuse...well at least I think so!!!

Very late Sunday night (11th April) I became an Aunty for the first time!!!! I am so excited.

Miss Jessica Anne was born at Dubbo Base Hospital to my brother and his partner weighing in at 9lb 5oz and 51cms. We are now in the midst of throwing things together to try and get to Dubbo to see her (abt 6 hrs drive fm here) before they go home to Cobar....which is abt another 4hr beyond that!!!!

So I may not have any posts in the next couple of days, but rest assured I have some Swap Sisters fun and a couple of other projects to share with you very soon.

Take care till next time.

Punch Panda

Here is the second part of the animal capers form Punch Art Tuesday....a way too cute Panda. Unfortunately I did not get a before pic, but here is the one on the card.

I had a lot of fun putting this one together. I wanted the feel of a bamboo grove and think I achieved it. I used the outline leaf from the 09 SAB set Botanical Blooms in Versamark on the card and then stamped off the same image in River Rock on the Whisper White. I also used my Carla Craft CP2 Bamboo punch.

Stuff Used:
CS: (SU) Old Olive, Purely Pomegranet (In Colour '09), Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink: (SU) Versamark, River Rock (In Colour '09)
Punches: too many to list
Bits: (SU) Black and White Gingham ribbon

Punch Lion

Tuesdays on Swap Sisters is Punch Art...a skill very close to my heart. This week the fun was 2-fold. 1...complete the animal and 2...use it in a card/3D/Scrapbook page. The first animal was a lion...and he was very cute. Here he is before I put him on the card...

and here is the card I came up with to put him on....

and a close up of the background....

Initially he did not have a tail, so I double punched a small and large oval and attached a small heart. I used Pocket Silhouettes for the 'grass' and also tried to 'sponge' the sky again, but infortunately you can't see it that well. I also used the "Sanded" BGS on the card to add some rough texture. I am not totally happy with the way the area behind the lion turned out...but I learned a lot putting it together.

Stuff Used:
CS: (SU) More Mustard, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Ink: (SU) More Mustard, Close to Cocoa, Mellow Moss, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Choc Chip SWM
Stamps: (SU) Pocket Silhouettes, Sanded BGS
Punches: too many to list

Monday Night Madness

We were set the challenge a couple of Monday night's ago to come up with a Vintage card style using Kraft, Always Artichoke and Whisper White. We also had to use hemp twine an SU 3D embellishment. I cannot type what my initial thoughts were, but here are the cards I did.

And here's a close up of the score lines that can't reall be seen on the above picture.

Both of these cards were versions of cards I had seen on SCS here and here, so I thank these people for proving me with the inspitation for these cards.

Have a great day.

CS: (SU) Whisper White, Kraft, Always Artichoke, Holiday Harmony DSP (fm Spring 08 mini)
Ink: (SU) Always Artichoke

RAK - #2

Courtney is another one of my speccy Swap Sisters. Not only does she do AMAZING ATC's, but she spins wool, takes magical photos and is an all round good gal. Courtney had mentioned that she LOVED the Good Neighbours set from the recent SAB promotion, but was not going to be able to get it. I was blessed enought to receive this as a chat room prize one night.

The pillow box that Sue made was full of chocolates!! The set was not one I thought I would use much, so I decided to pay it forward to Courtney. I also (since I was making some anyhow) made another matchbook post it folder for her and a matching note card. I had seen the delightful ladybug made fom the Pick a Petal set and had not had a go at it...so that was my challenge. I needed a ladybug motif for the back and had a mild moment of panic....then realised that I had 2 in the Garden Whimsy set. Here's the results...

And the note tag..

The set together......

Have a go at one of these little Post It folders. They are so quick and easy and easy to give. Courtney was blown away when her surprise turned up at the door....and it gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside too.

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink: (SU) Riding Hood Red, Versamark, Basic Black (Stamp and Write Marker)
Stamps: (SU) Pick A Petal, Garden Whimsy, Happy Moments (SAB '10 set)
Punches: 1 1/4, 1 3/8 and 3/16 inch circle punches
