Pockets of Sympathy

Hi all.

Sometime back I did some CAS birthday cards here. With some thought and a little tweaking, I altered them to add to the sympathy card stash at work. I made a mixture of male and female tones. Male being early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Night of Navy and female tones of Regal Rose, Perfect Plum and Concord Crush. The male cards were on Very Vanilla and the female on Whisper White.

Rather than show you all of them, here are the female ones.....

I think these appropriately fit the bill as (thankfully) so did the Practice Manager.

Thanks for popping by again. There is so much more to show you, so please keep dropping by.

Stuff Used (in the cards shown):
CS: (SU) Whisper White, Perfect Plum, Regal Rose, Concord Crush
Ink: (SU) Regal Rose, Perfect Plum, Concord Crush
Stamps: (SU) Sincere Salutations, Warm Words, Teeny Tiny Sentiments, Pocket Silhouettes
Other Bits: White satin ribbon fm stash

Getting Crafty In Singapore - #2

Back again with one of those "WOW" finds from Singapore.
I read an article about Washi Tape on the plane. (The link is a v v brief description for those who have also never heard of it!!) I had never heard of it but I was intrigued by it's versatility. So....Bestie and I invested in a roll each and decided to have a play. She went for something bold and bright...I went for v v basic...LOL!!! The article I read gave 10 ways to use the tape, one was by using it as a frame. These are the 2 cars I have gone with so far....
and #2...
As the pattern on the Washi Tape was so bold, I wanted to let it be the feature...and I also love the impact of white, black and red. I also have to add sentiments to these cards too of course. I have nearly completed the cards I did with Bestie's Washi Tape, but they still need something to finish them off....just can't decide what yet!!

Hope you likes these cards too. My next crafty Singapore post will involve Bestie's kids. Thanks for popping by.

Stuff Used:
CS: CM red and a White CS fm Bestie's stash.
Ink: (SU) Basic Black SWM
Stamps: (SU) Pocket Silhouettes
Other Bits: Japanese Washi Tape

More comebacks than Melba!!!!

Both my MIL and FIL have been workers at Australia Post FOREVER. My MIL finally decided to retire.....after threatening to do so many times. This time 'was it and FINAL!!" So to commemorate such an auspicious occasion, I marked it with a card. I made it at a play date at my bestie's house. She had aquired the SU bird punch and let me have a play. I had seen similar versions of this card on SCS and here's what I came up with...

It let me also have a play with my relatively new nesties (Labels 8) which is a similar shape to the SU top note die. Dunno if I am happy with my sun in the top left hand corner.....but it needed something!! Here are some close ups anyhow....

In the weeks since I made this card...I have since aquired the bird punch and will show you some other creations with it.

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Cottage Wall DP
Ink: (SU) Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence, Pale Plum, So Saffron (chalk)
Stamps: (SU) Teeny Tiny Sentimente, Pocket Silhouettes
Other Bits: Nestabilities Lables 8, SU XL Bird Punch, Dimensionals

Punch Lion

Tuesdays on Swap Sisters is Punch Art...a skill very close to my heart. This week the fun was 2-fold. 1...complete the animal and 2...use it in a card/3D/Scrapbook page. The first animal was a lion...and he was very cute. Here he is before I put him on the card...

and here is the card I came up with to put him on....

and a close up of the background....

Initially he did not have a tail, so I double punched a small and large oval and attached a small heart. I used Pocket Silhouettes for the 'grass' and also tried to 'sponge' the sky again, but infortunately you can't see it that well. I also used the "Sanded" BGS on the card to add some rough texture. I am not totally happy with the way the area behind the lion turned out...but I learned a lot putting it together.

Stuff Used:
CS: (SU) More Mustard, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Ink: (SU) More Mustard, Close to Cocoa, Mellow Moss, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Choc Chip SWM
Stamps: (SU) Pocket Silhouettes, Sanded BGS
Punches: too many to list

Communing with Nature..... Swap Sisters Challenge #4

Surprise....2 posts in one day......get comfy ladies....LOL!!!

On Swap Sisters (a wonderful crafting community) we were set the challenge this week of " incorporating a 3D item of nature into our project, together with a 'nature' themed stamp image." It could be a card, scrapbook page or 3D item. So.....after my usual force 10 procrastination storm...and a massive cry...cause my backyard has nothing but WEEDS in it....I had a BIG think. The challenge also stated "Remember, the idea of these Challenges is for you to try something that you might not have tried, work with medium that you would not normally, and to make you think outside the box."

Basic thought process...hmmmmm...nature..garden...plants....bugs....and so on and so forth. I also raided my file of things I have saved and not yet tried.....then it hit me...BAM...Like the smell of fresh manure in the garden....LOL!!! What else do you find in a garden....a Watering Can!!! On SCS sometime ago...they had these too cute watering cans here. So I had the seeds of an idea.

Here is the finished item.

Oh yeah, The 3D item is Lavender (thanks so much Steve for letting me raid your garden!!)

I must admit....a happy dance was undertaken when I had finished this. It is so very different from anything I have done before...so definitely outside my own creative box!! The other thing was I USED PINK!!!!! Those who know me well know that this is a stretch for me. I stamped the Sanded BGS in Versamark to give the can a little texture, the stamped off both Pink Pirouette and Lovely Lilac with the Pocket Silhouettes Set. The cute butterfly and snail are from Garden Whimsy.

Thanks to Swap Sisters for creatively making me feel uncomfortable....it was fun!!

Stuff used (all SU)
CS: Pink Pirouette, Whisper White
Stamps: Sanded BGS, Pocket Silhouettes, Garden Whimsy
Inks: Pink Pirouette, Lovely Lilac, Versamark, Certainly Celery.
Bits: Dimensionals, Lavender (dah!!)..non SU

Clean and Simple Birthday

You have to love cards that are Clean and Simple (CAS).

My baby sister is a tough cookie. She appreciates the fact that I make cards....she's just not really THAT fussed about them. So for her birthday, I toned down everything.....literally!! I started out with a piece of SU Whisper White CS and then got some black ink and one of my fave SU sets....Pocket Silouettes. A bit of meauring...a bit of stamping and here's the result.

Added a white bit of ribbon and a sentiment from the FAB Amy R set and presto!!

I loved it so much that I also did one in Mellow Moss...same layout, but different feel. It could also be used for a Christmas card, Sympathy card...anything really.

Hope you like this CAS idea. I know I do. It goes up so very quick and looks pretty.

Thanks for dropping by and catch you next time.

Stuff used:
Card: (SU) Whisper White, Basic Black, Mellow Moss
Ink: (SU) Basic Black, Mellow Moss
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes (SU) and Amy R "Birthday Sentiments".
Misc: White satin ribbon fm stash.
