Some Small Piggy Smiles

Hi all.

Ever see a card and think I HAVE to do that....and then it takes forever to fin the right occasion to come around??? Well I found such a card...and such an occasion DID come up!!

I was inspired by a couple of Piglet cards here and here. The one on Carla Scraps also came with a very handy tute, so I went from there. My GORJUS niece recently celebrated her 3rd birthday and so this was her card......

I found that everyone I shared this card with smiled, and that is the best thing ever!! I did change a couple of things in Carla's Tutorial in that I left Piglets Torso a single layer and drew on his "belly". This was done by centering and tracing around a "scrap" owl punch piece. I also embossed the white oval the with Cloudy Day EF....made such a difference.

The grass is done with the Martha Stewart Grass punch and I added the Itty Bitty Banner for the birthday.

To go with the card, I enclosed an UBER cute beaded bracelet/necklace and hair pin set made by my Bestie - Tracey. She is now selling sets like this and many more through e bay and Facebook under Berry-licious. She even does wee earrings too. They are so perfect for the up and coming young gal about town. Please check out her creations if you have the need for something special and unique foe a little princess.

Thanks for popping by. I so love reading all your comments and appreciate your taking the time to leave them.

Giving Thanks

Morning all.

If you are anywhere around the east coast of Australia, I hope you are tolerating the heat. Saturday (1st day of Summer here) did not fail to impress with the mercury hitting 36.9 degs C (which for those who are Fahrenheit fluent is 98 degs F!!!)

As you may have read, I was lucky enough to attend the recent SU Heartfelt convention in Sydney with Angela Sargeant. She drove me in, showed me around and in general was the perfect hostess. Angela also generously lent me the stamp set that helped create my Diwali cards here and here.

Now I am the kind of gal who believes in saying the 2 small words "thank you" when needed and often. So I made a little something to thank Angela for her generosity and kindness. Now as most of you know, I love to tinker with all things 3D, so this is where I started. I was inspired by a fab tutorial here to make these gorjus wee beauties.

This is what I made Angela, they are lumieres for her Christmas table......

They hold a faux (or flameless) teal light candle and the light flickers through the vellum stamped windows. I got mine from the Reject Shop and I am guessing that they are a little easier to get than they have been in previous years. This is it lit up......

The "holly" was achieved by using the leaf from the XL Bird Punch and 1/4" circle.

I fashioned a "matching" card by keeping the same colour scheme and using one of the flowers from the Mixed bunch set.

Here is the lot together.....

Thanks for popping by. I have more Christmas fun and 3D items to share soon.

More Zero celebrations

Hi all.

In the upcoming posts, I will be sharing a multitude of same concept, different spin ideas that I have done for friends with ZERO birthdays.

Recently I have a Blog Buddy that celebrated one such milestone!!! I have never met this gal, but she has a passion of coffee (a kindred spirit indeed)...take a bow Leonie Schroder. Now I had to take a bit of a stab-in-the-dark with a colour scheme, because trawling through Leonie's blog did not really give up any real clues!!!

The idea I had in mind was this FAB and super cute Bird House post it holder by Cynthia Richards. I downloaded the tute and started to work. Essentially it is easy peasy to put together, the only real modification I made was at the base with adding a Round Tab Punch to help it sit up a little better. I also added a wee slip for the pen to go to through at the base. Given the gift was based around an easel format, I made a matching card too. Here are the two together.......

closed.......

...and open in all their easel wonder......

The bird houses are made identically for both the card and holder. I sponged ALL edges which made a big difference actually!!! There is fine detail all over with texture in the bird wing, the roof and even the letterbox lid!! Here is the card and the post it holder detail close up......

The flowers were stamped with the "dotty centre" from the Mixed Bunch stamp set and then the flowers were punched out and layered.

The bird sits pretty on a branch from the XL bird punch and the post box was done with the 1 1/4 inch square punch, double punched just to nip a corner....if that makes sense. The post is a word window punch cut lengthwise and trimmed. on the second pic you can see how the addition of the round tab punch helps the whole thing sit.

There are MANY punches, pieces and things used in this and I will try to list them all. If I have missed anything out, ask the question when you leave a comment and I will get back to you with an answer!!

Thanks for popping by....much more to share very soon....including a fab teen male card!!!

Bunch of Blossom Punches!!

Morning all.

I got to play with my Blossom Punch. There are LOTS of these types of cards out there now, but the one I sourced inspiration from was here on Eileen Lefevre's blog. I loved the pop of red. We did not (and still don't) have the DSP she used on her card here in Australia yet, but may soon. I had a did through my stash of DSP's and came up with the following. I made a stack of them and now have once again broadened my stash.

Here they are......

These are with Whisper White.....

and these on Very Vanilla........

I made a couple of changes in that I did not have as may layers and I also made the embossed inset slightly smaller. Got to use a stack of buttons too. changed the leaves on some as well....can't have 2 cards the same now can I??? For those of you who have not seen this done before, the embossed panel is punched with the blossom punch and then a matched flower from the DSP is placed offset to this one and on dimensionals. This pic may explain it a little better.......

The banner is "waved" slightly by popping the middle of it up on dimensionals.

Here are all 4 together......

Thanks for popping by. I have some 3D and unconventional cards to share with you soon.

Craft Camp - #3

Morning all.

I can now post this card, as the person it was intended for was married this weekend past. Truth be told, I only recall vague parts of this card going together as (1)...it was done very late on the Saturday night of Craft Camp and (2)...I was more than slightly hypoglycemic when putting it together!!! On the upside....I was mote than happy with the outcome.

I knew that the colour scheme for the wedding was all vintage tones and I wanted the card to reflect this. I was inspired by the layout I saw here. I loved the idea of the hearts and birds. So...with that in mind, this is what I came up with......

There are lots of little things that are in this card that need a hi-lighted mention. The background is stamped with the largest stamp from "Style Beautiful"....a set that I have not pulled out in some time!! The hearts are actually White lace (yes shock horror.....I used LACE) and what is more shocking....I coloured it with a very light sponging in Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap to age it and make it fir the card. I was soooooooooooooo glad that Connie had these to sell at camp!!

As you can also see, on the bird I also carried through the large stamp to ass texture and interest. The DSP that was used for the Lace Border Punch was carried through onto the wings of the birds too.

Notice the different shape of the label? Believe it or not, it is actually the Decorative Label Punch. I got the idea from here at Debbie Henderson's blog.

I was so very happy with the vintage look of this card. I can only hope the bride and groom were too. I have a couple more weeks to wait and find out!!

Thanks for popping by.

Wise "Old" Owl

Morning all.

Today's project was a gift for one of the secretaries at my work. She turned 50....but it was a very covert operation. However, I could not let the event go by unheralded. It kind of had a "I don't see/hear/or speak of 50" feel to it.

I was immediately reminded of a card I saw on Kerry Bunting's blog here. to go with it, I had a wee post it holder from Bronwyn Eastley's blog here. A tweak here and an adjustment there and this is what I came up with.......

And the gift together.......

I will admit to doing a very big happy dance when this one was finished as it looked better than I had hoped. The best "win" was being able to separately stamp the sentiment on the card and have it balance....real "fist-pump" moment. The recipient really got a giggle out of it too...and laughter on your birthday is a great gift.

The post it note holder is form Dawn Griffiths blog here.

Thanks for popping by.

Co-ordinated Tulip Fun

Morning all.
Finally (I hear you laud), she has something crafty to show!!!

This is the 2nd of the tulip cards I made for a secretary that I use to work with. We have remained good friends even though I left my old work over 2 1/2 years ago. I went with a favourite colour combo of purples and green.

Here is the card.....

Now....what to give with it.....hmmmmmmmmmmm?? Ever find that you have a gift....and nothing to go with it....well I found a solution!!! I made her a wee note card holder from 2 of the Scallop Envelope dies joined together. What I finally made was a mildly amended version of this. The end result was this..... (front and back)

And side......

It held comfortably 4 note cards that were 3 x 3 inches and 4 envelopes. These were the cards inside. I also stamped the envelopes so they matched.

....and of course the card and gift ready to go......

Needless to say....she loved them. Purely by co-incidence, she had a gift at home that she had forgotten a card for...but now does!!!

Thanks for dropping by. I will try and list all the bits used, but there was a lot. If you have any questions....please ask and I will answer.

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Pear Pizzaz, Concord Crush, Whisper White, In Colours DSP 6 x 6 stack

Tulip Fun

Hi all!

As most of you are aware, I am an avid netballer and general all round sports NUT!!! One of the gals on my Monday night team turned the big 40...and of course I had to make the card for the team!!

I have seen many wonderful tulip cards made from the wings of the XL Bird Punch. Given that the birthday gal had experienced the recent loss of her mum, we wanted it to be bright and cheery. Here's the card....

The colour scheme was Old Olive and Real Red. I sponged all the petals and leaves. It gave a wonderful depth I think.

All of the bits on the card were popped up on dimensionals...

I had soooooooooo much fun making this one, I kinda sorta...well definitely got carried away with making them. So you will see a couple more later!!

Thanks for dropping by.

M & M Fun

Morning all.

I realise Christmas was about 6 weeks ago now (where DOES the time go??) I had some major fun with some Punch Art. There are many variations on these characters around. I did over 30 of these for the kids....and some grown ups for Christmas. The most tedious thing was filling all the tubes with alternating M & M's!!!!

Their faces are so cute!!!

Santa has Dazzling Diamonds on his "fur" of his hat and Rudolph has (der) a sparkling nose. On the back was a stamp from the "Tags Til Christmas" set.

They were a hit all round. Have even a couple left over for this year and perhaps to put on some cards!!!

I will try to list the punches used for each character.

Santa: Wide Oval- Hat (red and White), Small Oval Punch (face), Bird Punch (whiskers), 1/4" circle (eyes, nose and mouth), Carla Craft CP2 Cosmos Punch.
Rudolph: Wide Oval (head), 1 3/4" circle (muzzle), Owl Punch (eyes), 1" circle (nose), Carla Craft Verdue Punch (antlers), Bird Punch (ears)

Stuff Used:
CS: (SU) Real Red, Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Chocolate Chip, Basic Black, Generic Shimmer White, Generic Red Glitter CS
Ink: (SU) Real Red
Stamps: (SU) Tags 'Til Christmas
Punches: (see above), Scallop Square Punch

Christmas CASE - #3

Good Morning all!!

Is anyone else feeling the impending time and pressure of Christmas? I must admit this year I am feeling it terribly!!!

This is the 2nd card I turned out from the visit to my friend's place. It is based on a tag that I saw on SCS here. I expanded and added a little to make it into a cute and a little bit of a cheeky Christmas card.

I will admit to a small squeal of delight escaping when the final piece was placed on this card. The Santa vest was achieved by stamping the Santa tag from the Tags 'Til Christmas set and then punching it out in the Owl Punch. Add some Summer Sun SWM for the belt.....and Santa was complete. The hat is a Carla Craft CP2 Heart with a small trim of a Word Window Punch for the trim.

Finished off with  the Scallop Square punch and the sentiment.....

I have since made a couple of more versions of this card, but have not yet photographed them.

Thanks for popping by. I hope I am not boring you with all of this CASE-ing.
