Baby Boom - III

Morning all.

Well here is the last baby card (for at least a little bit). One of the girls on my netball team is in the family way and it was her baby shower a couple of weekends ago. I was asked to make the card on behalf of the team. We all chipped in with money and got her a gift card for a super baby store!

Once again, I reverted to my tried and tested baby pram. The mum and dad to be do not know the sex of bubba yet, so I kept the tones gender neutral. This is what I came up with this time around.....

Yes...you are not seeing things....I did a square card!!!! It is also the closest to a "white on white" card i have ever attempted. I busted out my new Nestabilities Heart Squares. Once I had settled on this the whole card fell into place really well. The background paper is the same on used on my daughter's birthday card WAY back here. Sadly I do not know the name of it and as you can see by the last time I used it, I have been holding onto it for quite a while!! I used it because it used a lot of gender neutral colour. It also has a little gloss in the centre.

The scroll that the sentiment is one was the one I cut down for the handle of the pram, so I guess the shape follows through the card as well. A couple of pearls and I was done.

Thanks for popping by and enduring all these baby cards. I promise there is something VERY different for me coming up soon. The request took me right out of my comfort zone in a BIG way.

Cherries - II

Morning all!

Firstly, thanks to all those commenters on the last post that pointed out all the PINK I have been using of late!!! Yes...it has been prolific, however, when it comes to little and incredibly girly girls....it is an obvious choice!! Please keep that in mind when viewing today's post and photos!!!

Miss 8 enjoyed a sleep over (her 1st) at a friend's house not so long ago, She was turning 9 and Miss 8 wanted one of the cherry cards to give her. We had her gift already (bling from Diva) so all I needed was the packaging. Miss 8 also wanted to give her a special bookmark. This is the booty from Diva....

I had fun with the last pillow boxes I did, so I thought I'd have another crack...and this is what I came up with....

So cute all done up together.

The bookmark was a variation on one I had done for my son (that I don't believe I have posted yet...oops!!) It uses the 2 Tags Die.

Finally, since the card did not have the birthday girl's age on it, I fancied up the inside a bit. Miss 8 chose this card....

and then on the inside......

This is it all together.........

Not to be outdone, Miss 8 also wanted to make her own special card for the birthday girl. As she was turning 9, it was based around 9 items on the card. Miss 8 designed it all.... and I was so very touched by the words she wrote inside.....

Thanks for popping by and enduring all the photos. Will be back with some fun bloke things very soon.

Cherries - I

Morning all.

Question - Have you ever been strolling through your local crafting paradise and stumbled across something that inspired you then and there?? That is how today's cards started. My local craft haunt is Alice in Paperland. I am always there for MUCH longer than I plan and Alice is such a sweetheart. I was there recently with one of my netball gals helping her sort and suss some things for her daughter (Miss 10). Whilst there, I found the SWEETEST cherry paper by Doodlebug. This is it close up.....

I immediately thought of the wee cherry stamp I had at home and the mojo flowed from there. I made 3 cards, picking up the colours from the paper. These are the cards....

With a red base....

..a pink base....

And one in landscape.......

As you can see, I need to work a bit on my "bannering"!! However, I was very happy with the way that they turned out. I think they are perfect for a little girl's birthday. As my next post will show....turns out, I was right!! En masse, they look pretty good...

Thanks for popping by again. I love to read your comments. Remember, if you have any questions about what I have made, please feel free to drop me a line. My e mail address is under my profile.

Co-ordinated Tulip Fun

Morning all.
Finally (I hear you laud), she has something crafty to show!!!

This is the 2nd of the tulip cards I made for a secretary that I use to work with. We have remained good friends even though I left my old work over 2 1/2 years ago. I went with a favourite colour combo of purples and green.

Here is the card.....

Now....what to give with it.....hmmmmmmmmmmm?? Ever find that you have a gift....and nothing to go with it....well I found a solution!!! I made her a wee note card holder from 2 of the Scallop Envelope dies joined together. What I finally made was a mildly amended version of this. The end result was this..... (front and back)

And side......

It held comfortably 4 note cards that were 3 x 3 inches and 4 envelopes. These were the cards inside. I also stamped the envelopes so they matched.

....and of course the card and gift ready to go......

Needless to say....she loved them. Purely by co-incidence, she had a gift at home that she had forgotten a card for...but now does!!!

Thanks for dropping by. I will try and list all the bits used, but there was a lot. If you have any questions....please ask and I will answer.

Tulip Fun

Hi all!

As most of you are aware, I am an avid netballer and general all round sports NUT!!! One of the gals on my Monday night team turned the big 40...and of course I had to make the card for the team!!

I have seen many wonderful tulip cards made from the wings of the XL Bird Punch. Given that the birthday gal had experienced the recent loss of her mum, we wanted it to be bright and cheery. Here's the card....

The colour scheme was Old Olive and Real Red. I sponged all the petals and leaves. It gave a wonderful depth I think.

All of the bits on the card were popped up on dimensionals...

I had soooooooooo much fun making this one, I kinda sorta...well definitely got carried away with making them. So you will see a couple more later!!

Thanks for dropping by.

Exploding co-ordination

Hi all.....

Problem: You have a niece about to turn 14....what do you do???
Solution: Through the miracle of the crafting gods, you stumble across a project that fits the bill to a "T".

I was lucky enough to find such a solution here. I had seen these amazing purses about, but one had never really crossed my mind until I stumbled across it. By pure coincidence, I had also purchased some wee notepads to decorate for stocking fillers. Too good!!!!

This is the explosion purse I made for Miss 14 (who happens to be a fan of purple!!)...

....and open.....

I was also lucky enough to find a a shop that sold individual heart shaped chocs that matched the DP perfectly.

Next was the notepad.....

....and the inside.....

I made a template of the cover and then measured the 'gaps' between the centres of the circles, then used a 3/16" circle punch to cut the holes....perfect fit.

Now for the card......I carried through the scallop circled theme from the bag and used it on the card.

...and the set together....

I had so much fun playing with this, I think I may stow it away again for another one of those desperate times. BTW...was a hit with Miss 14 too.....as a further coincidence would have it, she received a pinky purpley shade writing pen from her parents which also matched the notepad perfectly.

Thanks for popping by.

Sweet 16

(subtitle....You Know You're Getting Old When........)

DH's eldest niece turned 16 not so long ago. Kinda makes one panic a little because (1) you still recall the day she was born and (2) you have NO idea of what is hip and trendy with regards to a gift and you get that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach. I actually thought I had the card part at least sussed, until I took a trip to the Reject Shop. Sometimes you find nothing, other times you strike GOLD!!! On this particular trip, nit was GOLD on 'dem dare shelves!!!

I found a corset dress with matching mask in what was marked a "Scrapbooking Embellishment" kit. The light bulb immediately went off as to what the card was going to be.........

What do you think? I think this card has so much fun to it....don't you??? This is the wee dress close up.

I also love the quilted paper behind the dress. It's Cristena Re and i have had it for soooooo long, but never used it. I also added the wee pink rhinestones to bling it up a bit.

The only problem now was what gift. Miss newly turned 16 posted on her FB page that she got her BELLY BUTTON pierced for her birthday. OOOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKK.......fact taken in and cogs started turning. After chatting with her Mum...I got her a new belly ring. FYI...a VERY new shopping experience for moi...hee hee hee. I made a co-ordinated Peek-a-Boo Box to hold the said gift. This was it.......

I made an insert for the box to hold the belly ring. I think it passed as a jewellery box. Of course...here's the 2 together......

It turned out to be a very SWEET 16 card and gift indeed.

Thanks for popping by again.

Ink: (SU) Pink Pirouette

Growing too fast......

Morning all....I hope you are all enjoying the start of this long weekend here is Australia.

Now I did mention that life has been very much ffwd of late. One thing that happened is that my little girl turned 7!!! She is the biggest girly-girl (and yes I guess Mummy is slowly adjusting to this phenomenon), so I wanted her birthday card to reflect this.

Like most girls her age....she LOVES PINK, fairies, dancing, make believe and any combination of the aforementioned. She loves my Fairy Chloe image from The Greeting Farm (TGF), so I went with that. This is her card....

Now (sadly) this is the first gate fold card I have ever attempted. The cards were a thank you gift from a nursing student we had at the beginning of the year. Somehow...she got the feeling I was into craft....wonder how huh???

Now IRL, this card really sparkles. After painting the skin and hair with aqua crayons and pencils, I KindyGlitzed the wings. I also managed to cut Fairy Chloe out with Nesties so that her wings stuck out beyond the circle. I also paper pierced the dress in some of the paper.

On the inside I continued the circle and sparkle theme with a "7". Needless to say hen she opened the card...the squeals were very high pitched and I am sure some dogs ran yelping from the area....hee hee hee.

So what do you do to top it all off....hmmmmm make 36 mini cup cakes for school on the day too. And yes...they were very PINK...and strawberry flavoured. To keep the boys happy, I left some spares plain!!! Now please bear in mind I am no Martha Stewart when it comes to cakes etc, but it is what Miss 7 wanted!! So easy to serve up, all they had to do was lift one off the board and pop in in their mouths!!

Thanks so much for enduring a long post. Hope to see you again soon.

Baby Shower Fun

Given my age now, bay showers are not an event I go to very often. So, I was delighted when I received and invite for one. things were made a little easier by the fact the Mum-to-be knew the sex of the bubba (a girl)....so the creative cogs went into overdrive. The only thing I knew that I coukd not avoid was the inevitable....PINK!!!

So, to deal with this first....I altered the tones a little and used Pale Plum, Rose Red and Sahara Sand. This is what the shower gift looked like all together....

Given that all the gifts are for the baby, I made a suitcase with chocolates for Skye (Mum to be). Being female and pregnant...I thought chocolate was a fairly safe bet.

The card I was especially proud of as I had the pram image bouncing around in my head for a while. Here's a close up of the card....

I managed to carry the theme of the scallop border punch right throught the whole card, even fluking a similar shape on the tag with the sentiment.

The pram is made with a Nestabilities Scallop Circle with a 1/4 cut away and then embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. The Scallop Trim around the edge of the circle I learnt from Andrea Buckland here. It is a great technique, but does take a bit of practice. I HAVE to make mention of the pram spokes. You know those purchases...the impulse ones for rainy days....well these were one of them. Target were THROWING a bucketload of scrapbooking stuff out and there were 16 of this style of brad....for 25 cents!!!! Could not go past that at all!! A little bit of time down the track...and how perfect do they look??? They even sparkle!!

In putting the suitcase together, I used the same DP as the card, as well as Pale Plum and Rose Red. The wee pink flower brads finished off the handle just right.

Now I know you are all in total shock and disbleief that I have co-ordinated a pink gift set, but rest assured, things will return to their normal hues and tones from the next post onwards. Thanks for enduring a detailed post.
