Cherries - I

Morning all.

Question - Have you ever been strolling through your local crafting paradise and stumbled across something that inspired you then and there?? That is how today's cards started. My local craft haunt is Alice in Paperland. I am always there for MUCH longer than I plan and Alice is such a sweetheart. I was there recently with one of my netball gals helping her sort and suss some things for her daughter (Miss 10). Whilst there, I found the SWEETEST cherry paper by Doodlebug. This is it close up.....

I immediately thought of the wee cherry stamp I had at home and the mojo flowed from there. I made 3 cards, picking up the colours from the paper. These are the cards....

With a red base....

..a pink base....

And one in landscape.......

As you can see, I need to work a bit on my "bannering"!! However, I was very happy with the way that they turned out. I think they are perfect for a little girl's birthday. As my next post will show....turns out, I was right!! En masse, they look pretty good...

Thanks for popping by again. I love to read your comments. Remember, if you have any questions about what I have made, please feel free to drop me a line. My e mail address is under my profile.

Baseball Thank You's - #2

Morning all.

Today I wish to share with you the cards and gift card holders that I made for my son's coach and assistant coach. The team he plays for is Macquarie Saints and their colours ate a tealy turquoise, red and black. I had to make them as blokey as possible and I sort inspiration from this card. Here is my interpretation....

Yes....in my never ending quest to not make 2 cards identical....I did change them slightly!!! The "You Rock" banners were elevated slightly in the middle. I was very happy with these....so much so that I made matching gift card holders.....

I tried to be really clever (not) and use a button as a closure....it kind of worked, but I needed to think it through a little better. Here's front and back and the inside......

Needless to say....the cards were from a bunch of 11 and 12yo boys and they thought the cards were "cool" so that was all the approval I really needed. Here is each set together.....

I will try and list all the bits and pieces, but listing them all in my mind....there really were quite a few!!!

Thanks for dropping by. Hope to be back soon.

Pre-Teen Rock - #2

Time is marching by so very quickly. A couple of weeks ago (yes I am still posting Sept projects) my son turned 11!!!! Buoyed by the success of the 1st Extreme Guitar card I did (last post) I decided to put my own twist on another card I had seen here. This is my version that Mast 11 received.....

I 'grunged' the background and the "11" up as previous, as well as the bits behind the guitarist...

I then thought, since my son's friends are all roughly the same age, I made another, but this time left the age off to be added when needed.

I used the KaiserCraft "Grunge" stamp on the background of this one. It is less of a tyre tread texture as the "rough Texture" SU wheel is.

I hope to use this image much more as all the boys around me grow up. It's kind of fun.

Thanks for popping by.

Pre-Teen Rock - #1

It really is amazing how time flies. Bestie's eldest son was 12 not so long ago...so I have "graduated" to "tween masculine cards"....just typing those words can send shivers down the spine!!!

I was lucky enough to get "Extreme Guitar" before it retired at the end of last catty. I was therefore armed with a least a stamp in my artillery that could be used for such an age group!! I then found this MDS card on SCS. Now we do not have MDS (My Digital Studio) in Australia...so I had a play and came up with this for Master 12.......

I was so very happy with this end result. I did add a couple of my own touches though. I do not have a "splat" stamp, so I improvised with a rough textured clear Kaiser stamp and then ripped a random hole in paper and used it as a mask. It was also stamped off, but you get the general idea.

After stamping the 4 dark strips, it still looked a little bare, so I stamped a music stamp in the same tone in the gaps left behind.

Then it was a matter of adding in the stamped off stars and lining up the guitarist image.

The punched star and sentiment were the final touches. I had to cut the dark star by hand as I needed to just build it a tad more.

Master 12 was happy and thought the card was "cool" which translated I guess is high praise from a chap of that age!!!

Thanks for dropping by.

Crafter's Retreat #7

Nearly there...I promise....

I did so many male cards whilst away....this is another. I have been really lucky with getting inspiration from DP of late and these cards are no exception. I had an idea bouncing around and it basically came to be...which is a nice change. I used Just Jawing...which I have played with a bit of late...it's great for those tween age guys and gals. These are the cards........

When I initially stamped and mounted the skull...on the darker background the Whisper White looked VERY stark. So the cogs started clunking..... I ended up getting out my Kaiser Clear Grunge stamp, borrowed one of the gals Brocade Blue inks, stamped off the ink and then onto the skull. It looked so cool!!

Took all the starkness away...like magic....and like it's name....grunged it up really well.

Thanks for popping by again. I sincerely hope that you are enjoying my camp made creations.

Just Jawing Double Take!!

Continuing the bevy of birthdays in September for me...my Son turned 10 on the 20th and my bestie's eldest turned 11 on the 21st. This age is always a tough group to do cards for, so I invested in the Just Jawing stamp set before it retired. Now I also know that this set is not for everyone, but I love a challenge. I saw this card in Steph Pike's blog some time ago and stored it away for such an occasion!! Now CASE'ing cards is fun, but you also have to know what sets things come from. I goofed up big time on the sentiment from this one (which is actually fm Party This Way), but it all worked out in the end. Anyhow, here's my son's card...

I love the way it turned out. I had never stamped on DP before, something so easy but sooooooooo effecticve!!!! The grungy feel is perfect for kids this age....the only thing it was a little too clean cut.

So the next one I did for my bestie's boy, I got the Cutter Kit out and did a whole lotta distressing!!! This is the end result!!

and a close up of the edges....

I think I like the distressed one slightly better. Best feed back though is that both boys liked their cards.....and didn't chuck them aside immediately to get to the presents!!!
