Baby Boom - III

Morning all.

Well here is the last baby card (for at least a little bit). One of the girls on my netball team is in the family way and it was her baby shower a couple of weekends ago. I was asked to make the card on behalf of the team. We all chipped in with money and got her a gift card for a super baby store!

Once again, I reverted to my tried and tested baby pram. The mum and dad to be do not know the sex of bubba yet, so I kept the tones gender neutral. This is what I came up with this time around.....

Yes...you are not seeing things....I did a square card!!!! It is also the closest to a "white on white" card i have ever attempted. I busted out my new Nestabilities Heart Squares. Once I had settled on this the whole card fell into place really well. The background paper is the same on used on my daughter's birthday card WAY back here. Sadly I do not know the name of it and as you can see by the last time I used it, I have been holding onto it for quite a while!! I used it because it used a lot of gender neutral colour. It also has a little gloss in the centre.

The scroll that the sentiment is one was the one I cut down for the handle of the pram, so I guess the shape follows through the card as well. A couple of pearls and I was done.

Thanks for popping by and enduring all these baby cards. I promise there is something VERY different for me coming up soon. The request took me right out of my comfort zone in a BIG way.

Baby Boom - I

Morning all.

Welcome to the beginning of November. I cannot believe how quickly this year is getting away form me!! Does anyone else out there feel the same??

Sometimes being a nurse has its advantages. One of which is kinda being able to pick up when someone may be in the family way. One of the doctors in the practice where I work spiked my curiosity in a big way, but I kept my suspicions to myself for some weeks. More weeks passed, nothing was said, so I approached the Practice Manager and shared my suspicions.....and BINGO!!! (but I was to keep a v v tight lipped secret...no prob!) When the proverbial cat WAS out of the bag, I could not let the occasion go by without a card for the occasion.

I have had a gender neutral card bouncing around my brain for a bit and this was the final result...not exactly what I had in mind...but I was happy all the same.

The pram is basically a Nestabilities circle with a segment cut out and then dry embossed. Add a couple of hearts and the hook off a scroll from another Nestabilities tag (genius find even if I do say so myself) and the pram was complete!

All the "lattice" dry embossing was done using a little magic tape to hold all the squares together and also numbering them (in case they came apart etc....yes I am VERY OCD!!)

The banner was raised on dimensionals and the end flags tucked under just a bit to hang over the edge of the card, but still safely fit in the envelope. Can you tell I REALLY like dry embossing??

Thanks for popping by. I have more baby cards to share, both baby shower and birth - soon. I love to read your thoughts and impressions, so thank you for taking the time to leave a comment.

I also wish to thank ALL those who pop by regularly and not so regularly for taking my blog hits to over 20,300!!! I have only been blogging since January 2010, so I am over the moon with this result. From the bottom of my heart.....MWAH ooxx.

Cherries - II

Morning all!

Firstly, thanks to all those commenters on the last post that pointed out all the PINK I have been using of late!!! Yes...it has been prolific, however, when it comes to little and incredibly girly girls....it is an obvious choice!! Please keep that in mind when viewing today's post and photos!!!

Miss 8 enjoyed a sleep over (her 1st) at a friend's house not so long ago, She was turning 9 and Miss 8 wanted one of the cherry cards to give her. We had her gift already (bling from Diva) so all I needed was the packaging. Miss 8 also wanted to give her a special bookmark. This is the booty from Diva....

I had fun with the last pillow boxes I did, so I thought I'd have another crack...and this is what I came up with....

So cute all done up together.

The bookmark was a variation on one I had done for my son (that I don't believe I have posted yet...oops!!) It uses the 2 Tags Die.

Finally, since the card did not have the birthday girl's age on it, I fancied up the inside a bit. Miss 8 chose this card....

and then on the inside......

This is it all together.........

Not to be outdone, Miss 8 also wanted to make her own special card for the birthday girl. As she was turning 9, it was based around 9 items on the card. Miss 8 designed it all.... and I was so very touched by the words she wrote inside.....

Thanks for popping by and enduring all the photos. Will be back with some fun bloke things very soon.

Classic Black and White

Morning all.

I cannot believe the amount of punch art cards I have done recently. It is only really putting all my posts together that it kind of hit home.

Today's card comes care of inspiration from Laurie Zoellmer here. One of the doctors at work (do you get the feeling I make a lot of cards for the people in my office??) needed a wedding card and I thought Laurie's card fitted the bill perfectly. Here's my version....

Once I decided on the embossing folders, it went together so very easily...literally 10 minutes!! I am a sucker (as most of you know) for anything dry embossed.

Apologies for the crappy picture quality. These were taken very late in the afternoon!! The groom's bow tie is simply a small diamond cut in 1/2 and then a 3/16" circle punch. Too easy!!

Thanks for popping by. Promise to be back very soon.

Cute Critters

Hi All.

I have some more punch art to share with you today. Some time back my good friend mentioned to me that her girls liked particular animals and if I made something for their birthday (they are twins), could I somehow incorporate them. One LOVES (bordering obsessed) owls and the other has a passion for dragons.

I recalled a tutorial for sale by the uber talented Jackie Topa here. I have had my eye on it for a long time and finally relented. This is what I came up with for the girls.....

and.....

The wee note things are post-it holders. So quick and easy. I used Dawn Griffiths tute here. I have actually used it many a time!!

You may recall seeing a version of the owl card recently and you are right. I made it for a 50th birthday card here. My friend saw this and wanted it for one of the girls!!

Bunch of Blossom Punches!!

Morning all.

I got to play with my Blossom Punch. There are LOTS of these types of cards out there now, but the one I sourced inspiration from was here on Eileen Lefevre's blog. I loved the pop of red. We did not (and still don't) have the DSP she used on her card here in Australia yet, but may soon. I had a did through my stash of DSP's and came up with the following. I made a stack of them and now have once again broadened my stash.

Here they are......

These are with Whisper White.....

and these on Very Vanilla........

I made a couple of changes in that I did not have as may layers and I also made the embossed inset slightly smaller. Got to use a stack of buttons too. changed the leaves on some as well....can't have 2 cards the same now can I??? For those of you who have not seen this done before, the embossed panel is punched with the blossom punch and then a matched flower from the DSP is placed offset to this one and on dimensionals. This pic may explain it a little better.......

The banner is "waved" slightly by popping the middle of it up on dimensionals.

Here are all 4 together......

Thanks for popping by. I have some 3D and unconventional cards to share with you soon.

Bright Fowers....in Hope of Warmth!!!

Morning all.

It's official....I am freezing and in desperate need of warmth. Perhaps the posting of these cards may evoke some warmth??

I love finding a card and then working out, if you do not have the exact supplies, what you can use to make it yours! I fell in love with the idea of this card on SCS....and then the cogs started to clunk. The flowers...check...the grass...can alter but check but it was the stems that had me stumped. You really have to love one of those 3AM light bulbs...don't you?? This is the result of my light bulb moment....

I am so very happy with the way they came out. I got the chance to play with the Edgelit Dies on the grass. I am really loving the orange and purple colour combination. The sentiments are from Petite Pairs.

The Butterflies gave me the opportunity to try a trick I read on the net somewhere. If you want to have a certain coloured rhinestone.pearl, but you do not have the right colour, a permanent marker on a clear rhinestone or white 1/2 pearl will do the trick. I used a bright orange Sharpie in the rhinestone and viola!!!

The final thing was to pop the flowers on the dimensionals and I was good to go!!

Here are the 2 together........

Thanks for popping by. Let's hope that the warmth comes soon....or sooner!!!

Mother's Day - Part 2

Morning all.

Have you ever seen a card to CASE, the BEST one to suit the occasion...only to find that what you thought would be fairly straight forward, turns out to be the TOTAL opposite!!!!! Welcome to the drama that was my MIL's Mother's Day card - 2012!!!!

I saw this card on Judy May's blog and fell in love with it immediately. It was a slow downhill slide from there!! Problem #1 - dimension. I thought that the card was a standard 1/2 A4 sheet...no...turns out it was a square. I worked this out when I started playing with the framelits and working out that no matter which way I did it, the pink embossed piece would not fit correctly. Once that was sorted, there were multiple Mini issues....but my OCD kicked in and I got there in the end. Here is my version of Judy's card.......

The small details are what I love in this card. The tones are relatively mute, being Pink Pirouette, Crumb Cake and Whisper White. Then there is all the layering - the framelits, the coloured flowers and all the edged and embossed layers. Lastly, The different sized 1/2 pearls are the perfect finish.

Here is a picture of the card and the gift card box together......

Again, I apologise for the bad lighting in the photos. I hope you can get a sense of the beauty of the card.

Thanks for popping by again. Will be back soon with all my craft camp creations (yes that was nearly a month ago now) plus a whole lot more.

Stuff used:

More Blossom Fun

Morning all.

I want to share some more fun I have had with the Build-a-Blossom stamp and punch. This is seriously so easy to use and the cards go up so quickly. I sourced this card on SCS, but decided to change the colours up as the person it was going to loved blues. Here is the blue version......

I curled the edges of the flower over my bone folder to give it a slightly 3D-ish look.

Now...as I had not done a Flower bookmark for a while, this is what went in as the present.

And here are the 2 together.......

Thanks for popping by. I have been through all my pictures and found at least another 2 weeks of things I have not shared with you. So.....you may have to buckle in and brace yourselves!!

Bevvy of Booties....

Hi All.

Some time back I was asked to make a baby boy card for one of the doctors at work who was about to become and Aunty. I was also HANGING out to try and make the booties I had seen around blog land with the Stocking Punch. I took my inspiration from here and here. Given that I wanted to give her a choice, I made a softer card and one a bit bolder.

The one inspired by Jackie Topa turned out like this....

Given that I had used the "Hello Baby" sentiment on the other card, I changed it to the "Welcome Baby" and used the wee nappy pin to make a patterned piece for the booties to sit on.

The bolder one I used Pacific Point.....a colour that I very rarely use, but was pleasantly surprised with the way it came up.

I am a sucker for dry embossing and the folders really for a work out here.....

She loved both but took the softer one.

Thanks for dropping by again.
