Little Girls Simply love......

Good afternoon all.

Man have I been slack in posting!! I have been so busy starting out as a demo and then balancing a bunch of birthday's and other celebrations, there is oh so much to show you.

Given that I have a Miss 8 of my own, it goes without saying that I have a lot of little girl's cards and gifts to come up with. One that I have made a couple of times now is a lip gloss/balm butterfly. I find that EVERYONE likes butterflies, no matter what their age. There are many versions of these around in cyberspace, but these are what I have come up with.......

This first one has an orange glitter gloss in it that I picked up from my local Woolworths. It came in a 3 pack (with a pink and a clear one too) I used the colour of the lip gloss as the basis for my colour combination. Here is what the butterfly lip gloss holder looks like with CS only....

Seriously, they are very easy to do with the Beautiful Wings Bigz die and they are a massive hit. Here is the card and the small gift together......

The next set just kept getting added to. Miss 8 picked out the DSP and so this one is a mix of DSP and CS. Purely by chance the gloss colour was the same pink as the DSP!!! The gift was teamed with a small post it pad holder that I have done many times before (search this blog for post it holder for the links). I found the wee bead making set (also a dumb luck find in Big W) and then a ribbon embellishment and away we went. The small stamp on the present on the post it holder is from Pretty Petites, available until March 22nd in SAB with the matching punch. It is VERY cute and is brilliant for large cards and small. The card is a "Z" fold one.

Guaranteed smiles I promise.

Thanks for popping by. Plenty more to share...soon I hope.

Heartfelt with Stampin' Up in Sydney

Morning all.

A bonus post of sorts.......

Yesterday I attended the Heartfelt Stampin' Up event at Darling Harbour with Angela Sargeant. I had heard much about such gatherings and read many blogs extolling the wonder of Conventions and the like, but this was my first real experience with SU at this level.

First perk.....I met a couple of blog pals, many of whom I have "known" (ie read and e mailed...some for nearly 3 years!!!!). A big shout out to Nicole Derendorf, Leonie Schroder and (by no means least) Jenny Hayward. Jenny and I took the opportunity to have a memento picture to mark the event....I am on the left!!!

Second perk....free stamps!!! ( I will share the make and takes and the stamps used very soon!!

The next task was to put something on the Inspiration Board. These are display boards where soooooo many ideas are and you can take pictures of the ones that appeal to you (dah hence the name inspiration board I guess!!) This is the card I made for the occasion.....

Something a little different, but I was sooooooooo happy that the ideas I had bouncing around my head came out nearly the same on paper. The card was inspired by combining 2 cards I had seen. The first is by the uber talented Ellen Kemper and her card seen here. The second card was if you like an adaptation of an inspiration that Diane Giarrusso received at Convention in the USA as a swap seen here. I went back to my pre-stamping roots for a bit and did some punch art. Here is a close up of the lady....

The "garden" was stamped and sponged to create a feel of looking out of a window. The scene was stamped off twice and three times to give a little depth and the sky was sponged using my very well used acetate cloud template!!

I had so much fun adding dry embossing to bits and pieces. I am always blown away by what punches can do and deeply admire those out there who can see a shape and use it for something else soooo out-of-the-box!!

Third perk......I was sooooooo inspired by what I saw and learnt today it was beyond belief. I was surrounded by such creativity and inspiration....I loved every minute of it. Thanks so much to Angela for taking me and sharing such an awesome day.

Thanks for popping by. There will be some new posts fairly soon in conjunction with Diwali, so please drop by again.

Purse Die Fun

Morning all.

When the new SU catty came out September 1st this year one thing I was very eager to get was the Petite Purse Die. I have seen many beautiful things done with it, so I thought I may as well join in the fun and games.

My SIL was at the beginning of may 40th birthdays with family and work. It was only fitting that family bore the brunt of my 1st experimental purse!! I also broke out the new Summer Silhouettes stamp set too. This is my 1st attempt at a purse......

I embossed it with the Cuttlebug Wicker Weave EF.

And of course....it held 3 Ghirardelli chocolates just perfectly!!

The card was bases around pink like the purse (my SIL is VERY much a girly girl) and LOVES pink!!

The frame that holds the 40 is from the new Window Framelit Dies. I matted it out by cutting 2 pink ones, cutting them in half and then creating the border.

Here are the purse and card together......

Thanks for popping by. I have MANY more variations of purses to share. I have had lots of 40th birthdays and it seemed like a good way to start a celebration....every gal likes chocolate....right???

Next post starts the big challenge I was given....stay tuned.

Sunset Butterflies

Morning all.

For those of you who are frequent readers, you will know that I do not sponge a lot. However when I saw THIS card by the mega talented Darlene from Darlene's designs, I had to give it a crack. She does a lot of instructional VDO's and this helped greatly.

This is my original version of Darlene's card......

Her colours pop a lot more than mine, but for a first attempt I was not totally disappointed. The "sunset" look and the colours used blended so well.

My cogs then got a clunkin'. The first card was on Whisper White and I know that gloss card, well the ink goes on a lot easier, so this is how take 2 ended up.....

(Sadly the dicky weather we had been having in Sydney did not allow for fab photography!!!!) However, IRL the colours popped a lot more in this example. Some of the butterflies lay flush and some were popped up on one side on a dimensional.

Thanks for popping by today. Things are very slowly settling back down although we are still setting a cracking pace. Thanks Darlene for getting me out of my comfort zone too.

Stuff Used:

Bright Fowers....in Hope of Warmth!!!

Morning all.

It's official....I am freezing and in desperate need of warmth. Perhaps the posting of these cards may evoke some warmth??

I love finding a card and then working out, if you do not have the exact supplies, what you can use to make it yours! I fell in love with the idea of this card on SCS....and then the cogs started to clunk. The flowers...check...the grass...can alter but check but it was the stems that had me stumped. You really have to love one of those 3AM light bulbs...don't you?? This is the result of my light bulb moment....

I am so very happy with the way they came out. I got the chance to play with the Edgelit Dies on the grass. I am really loving the orange and purple colour combination. The sentiments are from Petite Pairs.

The Butterflies gave me the opportunity to try a trick I read on the net somewhere. If you want to have a certain coloured rhinestone.pearl, but you do not have the right colour, a permanent marker on a clear rhinestone or white 1/2 pearl will do the trick. I used a bright orange Sharpie in the rhinestone and viola!!!

The final thing was to pop the flowers on the dimensionals and I was good to go!!

Here are the 2 together........

Thanks for popping by. Let's hope that the warmth comes soon....or sooner!!!

Morning all,

Today's card is a very simple one indeed. It is almost a direct CASE from this card I found on SCS. Here is my version....

They are not exactly the same as you can see. I am so loving the Embosslit Die as it gives you a quick card in a jiffy.

I rounded and fancy edged the corners for a bit of a change.

Birthday Butterflies

Morning all.......

Please do not adjust you spectacles....yes it is me and I am POSTING!!!! Thanks for you patience and e mails of friendship and encouragement. Things have settled a little, but there is still a ways to go...a long way in fact, but at least there is a little light.

Now I created these cards a VERY long time ago and I got the inspiration from Leonie Schroder and her card here. I just love the whimsy and simplicity of it....so much so that I made a couple....or 4.

Here are my versions....

Now as usual.....I have made small tweaks on each of them so no 2 are exactly alike. The differences range from a different vine colour, sentiment and rhinestones or pearls. I did particularly like the way the vellum made the butterfly "fly".

The other little piece of special was the wonderful embossing the vellum held.

Here are 3 of the 4 cards together. 1 had to make a quick exit so I was not late for a friend's birthday.

Again, thanks so much for your patience, support and friendship. I hope to schedule a couple more posts over the next few days. Last weekend (18-20th May) I also went to Craft Camp and I have MUCH to share from there too.

Thanks for popping by.

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Vellum
Ink: (SU) Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake
Stamp Sets: (SU) Vintage Vogue and Amy R- Birthday Sentiments

Other bits: Dimensionals,  Pearls and Rhinestones (most from Hot Dollar)

Faux Suede

Hi All,

Back to all things flowers....again!!!! I love finding cards and putting a slight twist on them. This is the card that inspired me today. I love the way the flower just popped up off the card. I wanted to try the Faux Suede technique with it, to see how it would work. These are the 2 cards I came up with....

Sadly you cannot really see the script or vintage travel tag stamp I used on the backgrounds of both these cards. Hopefully you can see a little here....

I also stamped the suede side of the flowers in the same stamp in the same CS colour to give a bit of texture and interest. I think you can see it on the blue one slightly better.

The leaves are punched from the Blossom Petals Builder Punch and folded in half then run through the crimper. The brads are bargains from the Reject shop....a card of 12 for $1!!!!

Thanks for dropping by today. I will try and list all things used. I did make these some time ago!!

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Crumb Cake, Bashful Blue, Pretty In Pink, Pear Pizzaz
Ink: (SU) Bashful Blue, Pretty In Pink, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede

Dies adn Punches: (SU) Fun Flowers Die, Blossom Petals Builder Punch, Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die and Carla Craft CP2 Daisy Punch

In Memory Of.....

Hi all.....
Sadly last week I lost a dear friend who left behind a mammoth legacy. She died at the age of 84, survived by her 13 (she had 15 in all) children, 36 grandchildren and 4 great grand children. Her funeral was put together by herself prior to her passing (which was sooooooo her) and it was magical.

Over the years I had made her many things....mainly in tones of her favourite colour....blue. So it was only fitting that the card I gave to her family reflected that too. Here is her card.....

I struggled with the way I wanted to lay this out. I wanted the blue to pop and initially I had no matting....just the rose sitting on dimensionals....but is was very flat. The rose was coloured on Vanilla CS with blender pens....something I know I need a lot more practice at.

In the end, the matts won out...and I am thankful they did. I also found I had a lot more "space' to work with on a square as opposed to a rectangular card. The rose and sentiment were still popped up on dimensionals.

The sympathy sentiment is a clear KaiserCraft one. I struggle to get even ink coverage on these esp with SU ink. If anyone has any suggestions.....I would be grateful.

Thanks for popping by.

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Very Vanilla, Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue (butterfly) and Roman Print Square Card
Ink: (SU) Bashful Blue, Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, Pear Pizzaz, Old Olive (all used colouring the rose)
Stamps: Kaszzaz Rose, KaiserCraft Sympathy Sentiments
Other Bits: Blender Pens, Dimensionals, SU Beautiful Wings embosslit die, Rhinestones
