More Owls!!!

Morning all.

One thing you may have noticed of late is that I am having A LOT of fun co-ordinating cards and gift boxes. Basically...if it can be made and hold anything....I'll have a crack at it!! This project also has a bi-line in that ALWAYS read the description when you are getting stuff on eBay!!! I do like the Pillow Box....and purchased one on eBay. When it arrived.....it was actually a thin metal die....NOT the thicker Sizzix-like one I was expecting....but undeterred...I went ahead.

Recently a niece (another one!!) had a birthday. I saw this GORJUS wee ensemble done by Lynn Putt here. I figured the owl would fit the goodies I had purchased from Diva. This is what I came up with...

I HAD to use this paper as it had owls ALL OVER IT. I used the colours from the DSP to use as the colour palate. I guess you could say brights and I are getting better acquainted....LOL!!

This is the card closer up (click on the pics if you wish to make them larger)...

...and here is the close up of the owl.....

I am kinda chuffed with the way it turned out and I think I may be making a couple more of them as time goes by. Thanks Lynn so very much for the inspiration.

Thanks for popping by.

In Memory Of.....

Hi all.....
Sadly last week I lost a dear friend who left behind a mammoth legacy. She died at the age of 84, survived by her 13 (she had 15 in all) children, 36 grandchildren and 4 great grand children. Her funeral was put together by herself prior to her passing (which was sooooooo her) and it was magical.

Over the years I had made her many things....mainly in tones of her favourite colour....blue. So it was only fitting that the card I gave to her family reflected that too. Here is her card.....

I struggled with the way I wanted to lay this out. I wanted the blue to pop and initially I had no matting....just the rose sitting on dimensionals....but is was very flat. The rose was coloured on Vanilla CS with blender pens....something I know I need a lot more practice at.

In the end, the matts won out...and I am thankful they did. I also found I had a lot more "space' to work with on a square as opposed to a rectangular card. The rose and sentiment were still popped up on dimensionals.

The sympathy sentiment is a clear KaiserCraft one. I struggle to get even ink coverage on these esp with SU ink. If anyone has any suggestions.....I would be grateful.

Thanks for popping by.

A Rose By Any other Name

Morning all.

Do you ever have those days when possibly the confidence you have is slightly more than what you really should have??? i think I suffered an episode similar to this not so long ago. I had the very bright idea (not) to try and CASE a card by the uber talented Teneale Williams. I had some 'gorjus' rose based paper in my stash with this particular card in mind....all I had to do was keep the card layout as is and the substitute different colours. This is the card that I had in mind. I was happy so far.

I got all the elements guesstimated and cut out, and thought it would also be a good idea to make one the same as the original, so then when that went together OK....I could tackle the one in different colours. Here is my version of Teneale's original.

I basically had it all the same with the exception of the white doodle dots around the Choc Chip frame. No matter how I measured and double checked...I was not satisfied with the result. I therefore went to a "ticket punch" cornering on the white mat with pearls.

There are alot of dimensionals on this card....perhaps one of the "highest" cards I have done but I think it looks OK IRL. I also placed a dimensional under the sentiment banner to give it a little lift and support.

I do have the other version in pieces...and in 2 versions of co-ordinating colours, but that will wait for another day.

Thanks for dropping by...hope to see you again soon.

Chrissy Cards #5

I have done the same layout on a whole heap of cards that were based around a layout done by Corene Brown aka Stampin Red here. It is the one in the bottom left corner as you are looking at it. Once I worked out the measurements I wanted, these cards went up in quick time. I also apologise for the slight (and somewhat recurrent) case of "crooked sentimentitis".

I then went a little monotoned and love the effect. Only the red micro bling broke the green...LOL (hence not being a true monotone I guess??)

I then went slightly non traditional with red, brown and a little smattering of blue and had this.

.
There are a couple of different variations on this theme, which I will not make you endure this time around. Perhaps next year, I may start posting a little earlier....hee hee hee.

If I may take this opportunity to say a MASSIVE thank you to all the devine souls who took the time to leave comments on my blog and to those who just "cruised by"....a MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all. Be safe, be happy and laugh a lot. May there be inspired creativity awaiting you under your tree.
