Father's Day Card with the LOT!!!!

Morning all.

Thought I'd get in with these cards close to time as opposed to my usual sooooooooooo v v much after the occasion kind of thing!!!

The Sunday just gone (2nd Sept) we celebrated Father's Day in Australia. I am very lucky to still have 3 "Dads" in my life, them being my DH, my Dad and my FIL. Most women know that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach! With this in mind....and also thanks to the amazing punch art inspiration of Kelly Matthews - Indiana Inker (here), this is what the 3 dads in my life received as cards.....

Aren't they a hoot???? Kelly used the Lg Oval Punch for her burgers....but I super sized mine and used the wide oval punch instead. The "seeds on the bun" are done by stamping off one of the "Itty Bitty Background" stamps. Here are the burgers and chips close up.....

DH did have a wee dummy spit because I put VEGETABLES with his burger (wink!!) All the edges are sponged in the same colour to give them that bit of oomph!

So...what did I give my vege-phobic DH for the occasion....a very VERY tongue-in-cheek gift (so unlike me!!).......

Here are the 3 cards together en masse......

Thanks so much Kelly for the inspiration for these cards. They were a hit to say the least. I made these cards with one of my netball gals and her Miss 10 daughter the day before Father's Day. Seriously....I have never seen 2 gals have so much fun with a crimper!!! Thanks to Trish and Miss Renee for a fun and fantastic afternoon!!! From all accounts the men in their lives that got their cards loved them too.

Thanks for popping by and enduring a long post. Have sooooooooo much more to share it isn't funny. Please feel free to leave a comment. I love hearing your thoughts and impressions.

Faux Suede

Hi All,

Back to all things flowers....again!!!! I love finding cards and putting a slight twist on them. This is the card that inspired me today. I love the way the flower just popped up off the card. I wanted to try the Faux Suede technique with it, to see how it would work. These are the 2 cards I came up with....

Sadly you cannot really see the script or vintage travel tag stamp I used on the backgrounds of both these cards. Hopefully you can see a little here....

I also stamped the suede side of the flowers in the same stamp in the same CS colour to give a bit of texture and interest. I think you can see it on the blue one slightly better.

The leaves are punched from the Blossom Petals Builder Punch and folded in half then run through the crimper. The brads are bargains from the Reject shop....a card of 12 for $1!!!!

Thanks for dropping by today. I will try and list all things used. I did make these some time ago!!

Heartfelt Birthday Wishes

Hi all.

I am so very sorry that I have not kept my promise to post more regularly. There have been spot fires all through this week....and I have struggled to keep to keep on top of them. Posting has not been at the top of the list of late. With all that aside......

The delightful Katie Ridden, whom I met through Crafter's Anonymous last year, celebrated her birthday last week. We have the same (extremely) bent take on the world and share many laughs. She recently took a very brave step and moved from NT to Denmark in WA. I had no idea of Katie's fave colours or stamp set, but I did have so much fun recently playing with Heartfelt Thanks, that I decided to give it another whirl!!! I was quite taken with this card on SCS, but wanted to put my own wee twist on it...and here's what I came up with......

Now yes...you are NOT seeing things....I got my CRIMPER out....shock horror!!!! (now all I need to do is use my brayer that I purchased over 9 months ago and still have not used!!!) Whilst I liked my version of the card...to me it was still missing something....so I did the only thing I cloud...I pimped my own card!!! This is what Katie received.....

I fiddled with the 2nd step of the process a little to make it stand out a little more and added 3 half pearls...and then I was happy!!! I love dry embossing and added with the crimper and the MS punch...it was a tactile joy!!! I also liked the slightly darker outline on the flower.

After Katie had received it (and thankfully loved it) she shared with me that the stamp set I used was the very FIRST one she got through SU....how freaky is that. Just as well I do freaky OK too.

Thanks for popping by again. I really hope that things settle soon for all that I love out there and those whose hearts are heavy. I will be back again real soon.

Late Notice (2nd installment)

As I mentioned last post, my son (master 9) also came home with a rather late notice of an impending birthday party and I had 2 days (plus all the other stuff that Mum's do) to put something together. I went to the remnants of another Simply Scrappin Kit - Round Up - that I aquired and decided to see what I could do with that. Here's the result....btw...the birthday boy was turning 10!!

I was really pleased with how it turned out, given the amount of time I had to put it together. I also got to get the crimper out and have a play with it. I crimped the strip that the sentiment is on and also crimped the stars. this card only has 1 STAMP on it which is the 'happy birthday" from the SAB Happy moments set.

I also distressed the edges with the cutter kit to 'bloke' it up a bit more. Amazing what you come up with when put under pressure!!

CS: (SU) Close to Cocoa, Sage Shadow, Simply Scrappin' Kit - "Round up"
