Craft Camp - #4

Morning all.

Today I am sharing a card that was inspired by Bonnie Klass here. It gave me the opportunity to try out one of the beautiful scored backgrounds I had seen around blog land. I also got to play with my Simply Scored. Learnt a lot......as you will see.

I pretty much CASE'd Bonnie's card. Here are the 2 cards I did.....

I was unsure as to the interval I should have left between the lines. For the record, I also did these on the regular Simply Scored, not the Diagonal Plate. I think I prefer the wider lines. Don't you??

The lines (from memory were scored at 1/2" apart on the 1st background and 1" on the second. On the first card, I did have a wee counting mishap, resulting in a "double score". Solution....count the lines and repeat it late on, so it looked like it was supposed to be done that way!!!

Another (shameful) admission is that this was the first time I had inked up this set!! It looks good done with markers (as I had done here) or in a single colour. The detail is beautiful.

Thanks for dropping by. Guaranteed....PLENTY more to show....and nearly at the end of my craft camp projects....I promise!!

Christmas CAES-ing Kez - #1

Not that long ago I was privileged enough to be involved in another session of Cards For The Troops with Kerry Bunting. Between all of us we mastered about 250 cards in under 4 hours. The mood was jolly and light and many laughs were had. You can see the cards we made on Kerry's blog HERE. To save confusion, This is the card I worked on at the session and consequently also CASEd.

I certainly got a crash course in sponging on that day....mind you....I could have had to cut out 50 of the doves....hee hee hee. I loved the tones in this card and they had a real classic, vintage feel to them. This is my version......

For the version above, I cut out the Crumb cake layer all together. I added the Dazzling Diamonds to the dove and randomly to the main image. I am not usually a fan of sparkle, but it did add something very special to the card. Here is the dove close up....

Thanks so much Kez for providing me with the inspiration for such a fantastic card. I love it to bits. Belated thanks for allowing me to be a part of cards For the troops again. It is such a rollicking afternoon for a brilliant cause.

Thanks for dropping by.

Sweet 16

(subtitle....You Know You're Getting Old When........)

DH's eldest niece turned 16 not so long ago. Kinda makes one panic a little because (1) you still recall the day she was born and (2) you have NO idea of what is hip and trendy with regards to a gift and you get that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach. I actually thought I had the card part at least sussed, until I took a trip to the Reject Shop. Sometimes you find nothing, other times you strike GOLD!!! On this particular trip, nit was GOLD on 'dem dare shelves!!!

I found a corset dress with matching mask in what was marked a "Scrapbooking Embellishment" kit. The light bulb immediately went off as to what the card was going to be.........

What do you think? I think this card has so much fun to it....don't you??? This is the wee dress close up.

I also love the quilted paper behind the dress. It's Cristena Re and i have had it for soooooo long, but never used it. I also added the wee pink rhinestones to bling it up a bit.

The only problem now was what gift. Miss newly turned 16 posted on her FB page that she got her BELLY BUTTON pierced for her birthday. OOOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKK.......fact taken in and cogs started turning. After chatting with her Mum...I got her a new belly ring. FYI...a VERY new shopping experience for moi...hee hee hee. I made a co-ordinated Peek-a-Boo Box to hold the said gift. This was it.......

I made an insert for the box to hold the belly ring. I think it passed as a jewellery box. Of course...here's the 2 together......

It turned out to be a very SWEET 16 card and gift indeed.

Thanks for popping by again.

It is always sad to lose a teacher htat has been a stalwart of a school for so very long. Sadly, my son's teacher retired recently. She has endured taught Dylan for 2 years (yr 2 and this year...year 5), so I thought her parting gift should be all that she has meant to us as a fmily and as an educator. Once again, everything was co-ordinated and it sought of grew and took on a life of it own. This is what she received...

It consisted of a diary, a candle, a desk compendium and a card. (Be warned...lots of pics following....)

The diary....

The Candle....

The desk compendium, complete with calendar, monogramed paper and butterflies....

The desk set is the same as the one Debbie P made here.

And last but not least the card....

Pretty as a Princess

My bestie's daughter turns 8 very soon. I wanted to make her something very special as this will be the last thing she receives from me before she leaves to Singapore on the 15th Jan. Now being nearly 8...and a girly-girl...she LOVES pink, purple and princesses. Hmmmmmmmmm (clunk, clunk, CLUNK!!!!)

I have not utilised Princess Anya for a long time, so I worked around that...whist also trying to maintain my crafting resolutions!!! So....with the brief I had, here is my card....

I did such a happy dance when I put the last touch on the card!! I busted out mu much neglected Nesties for this card (Fancy Tags and Ovals) which also hepled carry the oval/spiral theme through from the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. I paper pierced her dress with the Tea Party DP and firstly painted her star and crown with bright yellow watercolour crayon and then blinged it with Kindyglitz.

I cut Princess Anya out and mounted her on a white Nesties Oval. That and the Fancy Tag scroll sat up on dimensionals.

I finished off the embellishments with some small paper roses. I think they were the perfect touch. Debbie P uses them all the time in her cards and i have admired them for so very long...so thanks Debbie for that creative kick in the keester!!

I have kept Creative Resolutions towards pink, and using things in my stash (flowers, Nesties and Princess Anya)...so I am still ontrack...Woo Hoo!!!! I am also gunna enter this card in a challenge that Bizzy Becs has put forward to utilise Spellbinders Nestabilities (aka Nesties). She has some great specials on them till the end of the month.

Stuff Used:
CS: (SU) Almost Amethyst (ret), Pretty In Pink, Whisper White, Tea Party DSP (ret), Watercolour Paper

A Bevvy of Boxes - #3

"With a little help from my Friends" is a FAB song and is pertinent for this post. Kerry Bunting as I previously mentioned is a magical friend and I was blessed to receive this a short time back. (Sorry Kez that I have not posted it here yet!!) It is beautiful and takes pride of place on my table.
The birthday bonanza of Sept continued with niece...Miss 15 (the day before my son's b'day). Oh the agony of it all!!! A quick call to her Mum and all she wanted was bangles....EASY!! With such a basic gift it needed spectacular packaging. Now I am NEVER one to bite off more than I can chew (yeah right) and had images of co-ordinated cards and boxes, but sadly time ran out. I looked up and saw my little draw from Kez,...and a MASSIVE lightbulb came on.....a combo effort. Card and box in ONE!!! An e mail later and some information and I was on my way. Kez based her easel draw box on a template from Liam Pucher. Liam is SUPER talented in 3D paper projects. Take a look round her blog if you have not before. It is amazing.

(Sorry to keep rambling) I wanted to use the devine Miss Anya Collection stamps that have sadly sat neglected and unused since I purchased them (a long time ago!!) These 3 savvy young gals are perfect for tweens and teens. Rather than colouring the whole image I paper pierced some of it. This was the result..

and this is how she looked completed.....

I bundled her up with some Grosgrain Ribbon as wrapping....

Then.......when she took the ribbon off.......

I was sooooooooooooooooo happy with the result that a (somewhat sad but enthusiastic) happy dance was undertaken. It looked so pretty with the bangles in it!!

The card was a very narrow panel at the back of the easel which cannot be seen when opened, but is there as a special reminder. Here it is from the side and close ups of the delightful draw handle and the sentiment. Given that the inside of the draw gleamed...Happy Birthday did not seem right. "Sparkle" fitted the bill perfectly.

Thanks so very much for enduring this post to the end. The crafting community is such a wonderful and caring group, makes you feel good just to be a part of it.

Bold, Bright and Funky

Sometime back the devine Debbie P and I swapped some images. I have been slowly been working my way through them. Debbie also very generously helped me through a very tough choice about what Nestabilities would be best for me and what I do.

Recently one of my niece's turned 10...so for such a special occasion...I turned to one of these images. I wanted to do a slightly less traditional colour combination, so I chose purple, fluro orange and fluro green. Here is the resulting card...

I got to get out my new Nestabilities for the "10" tag. I love it. here are the obligatory close ups..

I coloured her with a mix of my watercoloured Faber-Castell pencils and my Lyra Aqua crayons. I love this colour combo for tweens as it isn't classically PINK. ;)

This was teamed with a cute to boot gift that'll be shown next post.

Thanks for stopping by.
