Craft Camp - # 1

hey all.

I guess since it was now a month ago I should share with you the projects I made at Craft camp this year. Once again as in previous years it was at the Collaroy Centre.

Sometime back (and yes better late than never........) a fellow craftie had a beautiful baby boy. I was inspired by this beautiful card. Here are my 2 versions......

The first keeps to Carrie's combo of Bashful Blue, Espresso and Crumb Cake.

The second I changed it up slightly by switching the Espresso for Black.

The rattle is just basic punch art, but so very cute and the dry embossing just finishes it off.

The pennants are threaded on brown/white bakers twine and silver elastic cord.

Here are the 2 cards side by side.

I love how a small change here and there can change up the feel of a card just enough. Also no white or Vanilla....who'd have thought?????

Thanks for popping by. Rest assured there are many projects from craft camp to share.

Crafter's Retreat 2011 #1

Hi there.

I guess I shoud get off my keester and show you what I made at craft camp....given that it WAS 2 weekends ago!!! Once again, it was at the idyllic Collaroy, where we have been all the previous times. One of the BEST things about camp was that my bestie came out all the way from Singapore...JUST for camp!!! We had some "us" time...and even better...US CREATIVE time. Could not have asked for more.

This year I went with specific goals in mind...with a glut of birthdays and things coming up, I wanted to get ahead (or at least dare to dream anyhow). I also had some new toys to play with and I wanted to give them a good going over.

First task was to fill some orders I had been give. One of the doctors at work was about to become an Uncle for the first time, but he did not know the sex of the baby, so he wanted one of each. He also wanted traditional colours...ie pink and blue. my "go to" baby set is Wild About You. I also had purchased some time back some beautiful Christina Re double sided A4 paper. With all these factors in mind, here is the boy card....

And the girl card.....

I kept the design fairly basic as I wanted the paper to be the centre of attention. I just made a simple matt...

...and because I (still) can't bear to do 2 identical cards....slightly changed the sentiment up a little...

Even side by side I think they looked pretty speccy together....

Isn't the paper just too cute?? The doc was really happy with them too. Turns out the timing was perfect. I gave them to him at work on the Tuesday and his new NIECE was born on the Wednesday....and he was all organised. Gotta love that. You still can't wipe the smile off his face.

Thanks for dropping by. Rest assured, I have A LOT more to share!!!

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Pretty In Pink, Bashful Blue, Whisper White and Cristina Re paper (sorry unsure of name)
Ink: (SU) Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue
Stamps: (SU) Wild About You, Short and Sweet
Punches: (SU) Word Window Punch, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Modern Label Punch
Other Bits: Dimensionals, Pink and Blue 3mm craft ribbon, 3mm pink and blue rhinestones fm stash

Baby Shower II

My youngest SIL is about to give birth to her first child. We are all eagerly awaiting this birth as both she and her hubby have gone through a lot to get to this point. On Easter Saturday we had a "Gathering" of the Shrimpton women, being my MIL, her sister, my 3 SIL's (one of whom is the mum-to-be), myself and our daughters...of which there are 5. It was an 'unofficial' baby shower....and a total surprise for the guest of honour. One of my SIL's had organised...with games and favours and all the baby bounty of course to go to the guest of honour as a pressie fm all of us.

I wanted to do a card at least to show her how my family all felt. We do not know the sex of the baby, so neutral was the go. I had seen this card and it gave me the basis for mine. I apologise in advance for the dodgy pics...this card was done very much on the fly and the pics were taken in secret in my niece's room before it was given!!

I used this DP once before here...on my daughter's birthday card last year. It was a swap that I acquired from Steph at craft Camp last year. Given that it was all colours, I thought the best for a neutral card!! The rattle is a little easier to see IRL, but you get the idea anyhow. I gathered some scrap lace for the band of the rattle and double punched the handle with a couple of circle punches.

The final finishing touches were yellow grosgrain ribbon for the handle and bow as well as the sentiment with tiny pale green bling.

I was quite amazed how bits from here and there came together for such a sweet card. I also got to bust out my new Martha Stewart Punch....Love it!!

Thanks for stopping by.

Triple the fun.........

You may recall that a little while back I made a Pea-In-A-Pod here.

Well, one of my co-workers recently became a Great-Aunt (I think) to TRIPLETS, 2 girls and a boy. She set me a challenge to make her a card. Given that triplets it not a frequent occurence, you can appreciate that there would not be THAT much variety in cards for the occasion, so with that in mind, I set to task.

I had so much fun doing this card. I was also a little more confident with it in that I had done one before. I also think I did this one slightly differently in that I also highlighted in white gel pen the actual peas that were the bodies.....makes such a difference!!

I havd tied the 2 wee pink bows again out of 3mm ribbon....but did not wish to leave the wee chap unembellished...so to speak. So I made him a super-dooper teeny tiny bow tie!!

The sentiment was from the Warm Words set and I felt it suited better than a "congrats" or the ole "it's a boy/girl"

I think part of the attraction of these cards is the small details in them like the sponging and the highlighting.

As a final touch I added some "buds" in pink and blue on the vine. Not that I think that the new Mum is going to go back anytime soon for any more bubs!

Great Aunt Cheryl was wrapped with the card as was the brand new Mum. Oh...and by the way, for the record the triplets were named River (boy), Ila and Amaya.

Thanks for dropping by.

A Pea in a Pod!!

One of the gal's in my netball team recently had a beautiful baby girl (Meredith Lily) on July 26th. I wanted to do something a bit different for the card and I recalled seeing these beautiful "Sweet Pea" cards on Andrea Walford's blog here.

I based the card on the picture she had on the post. I used shimmering white card, which when stamped gave a slightly uneven texture, which I liked. I took the pics of this card at the netball courts, hence the not-so-fantastic lighting. Here's what I came up with.....

I have not really sponged much before and this little "Pea" definitely makes up for it!! I think I ended up sponging everything I could that was green at least. here is the pea pod close up and here sweet little face...and yes I even tied the ribbon!!!

I struggled with what to use for the flowers, but then I remembered a nice shape I had that would do the job. I sponged the edges og the flowers in Elegant Eggplant and then used a Leonie-M small sun punch for the centres to tie in the green/purple theme. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments, which I am LOVING at the moment. No occasion is forgotten with this set!!

It was so very nice to do a card for a baby girl that wasn't inundated with THAT colour (hee hee hee).

Thanks for stopping by. Catch you all soon.

Baby Fun #1 - Girls

With the recent birth of my beautiful baby neice, naturally I would have a post on some baby cards about. The cards in the next couple of posts actually went to my work as we have a lot of prospective Grandmas and co-workers. It is a veratible baby boom coming. So here are the ones I did for the girls....

The following is a CASE from SCS here.

Finally a slightly different take, a tag that is Cuttlebugged with a plain tied behind so that it can be written on. I love the simplicity of this tag.

There are a lot of things used in these cards, so if you have any questions about the things/inks/sets I have used, leave a question in the comments and I'll get back to you.
