Co-ordinated Gifts for Tweens

Hi all.

For regular readers of my blog, you know I LOVE a good box and co-ordinated gift. Recently whilst blurfing (blog surfing) I stumbled across Sam from Pootles Papercraft in the UK. She make ALL kinds of boxes and gifts and even does DO's for the visual learners amongst us.

The original contact I had with Sam's blog involved today's project. Miss 9 had 3 friends (twins turning 11 and a bestie at school turning 10) that needed gifts. Sam's box here was the perfect opportunity to give these gorjus boxes a whirl. Here is the finished projects.......

For the twins......... (remember to  click on the photos if you wish to make them larger)

The card was inspired by this one.

Aren't these boxes just delish???? The lids close on an angle as you can see here. Sam's box did not cover the sides in DSP, but I really liked the look of this.

The pencils I found in the Reject Shop. Pack of 12 for $2....so bargain indeed. I popped them in a skinny cello bag and made a topper with the 2 3/8" and 1 1/4" Scallop Circle Punches and you get this....(the stamp set I used is an old retired SAB set).

Now for Miss Turning 10....well it was the same idea, but just a different colour combination.....and it HAD to be PINK!!! (insert exasperated pink-ugh sigh!!)

The card was inspired by LeeAnn Greff. It was in her January Newsletter, but I cannot find a pic of it to share with you. The thing I loved about it was the seamless transition between the embossed CS and the ribbon. She (I think) must have used the simply scored, but I used the "x" emboss of the Needlepoint EF's.

Thanks for popping by. If you are in Sydney, I hope you are high and dry. The rain has been INSANE.....seriously...I think we are near 10 days straight now. I can't recall seeing rain this heavy and persistent for a long time.

Addit.....

Oops...I am such a bad Mumma!!! Miss 9 received some card making stamps and supplies for her birthday (early June) and was very keen to make the twins a card each. I helped with the corner decorations....it is the Postage Stamp punch cut on the diagonal. Worked a treat!!! This is what she made......

Farewell Ms Brooks

It is always sad to lose a teacher htat has been a stalwart of a school for so very long. Sadly, my son's teacher retired recently. She has endured taught Dylan for 2 years (yr 2 and this year...year 5), so I thought her parting gift should be all that she has meant to us as a fmily and as an educator. Once again, everything was co-ordinated and it sought of grew and took on a life of it own. This is what she received...

It consisted of a diary, a candle, a desk compendium and a card. (Be warned...lots of pics following....)

The diary....

The Candle....

The desk compendium, complete with calendar, monogramed paper and butterflies....

The desk set is the same as the one Debbie P made here.

And last but not least the card....

I am so very happy with the way this set worked out. As you can see, there are MANY elements to this set, so I will put the main ones in the "stuff used" at the end.

A Rose By Any Other Name

Hi there all.

Please forgive my tardiness over these past 10 days. I have so much going on at the moment it is hard to keep up. Perhaps the best thing that has happened is that I have become and Aunty again, last Friday (13th) to little Pippa Lee Burke....a beautiful baby girl to my SIL Neridah and hubby Gary. She is the cherished reward at the end of a rollercoaster journey. We visited her on Saturday, but sadly my camera was not playing nice and the pics I have are not that FAB, but here she is.....

So I think that it is fitting that I (finally) post my Mother's Day card. My MIL has a beautiful garden and I really wanted to do something special. both she and Poppy do so much for us....it was the least I could do. I had not done a Tri Shutter card for some time and I really loved playing with "A Rose is a Rose" set again. This is what I came up with........

I teamed it up with the Bella Rose (now retired....sniff) DSP and got the Nesties out again. I mounted the rosebuds on dimensionals as they framed the "Mum". It is also a little hard to see, but I stamped off a rose and leaves that you can JUST see under the Mum. (I think the Pink Pirouette Rose got lost in the glare of the sun!!)

These cards have such a WOW factor when opened.....and this is my attempt at WOW....

This card accompanied a rose bush in the same colours as the card.....as hubby after much prompting STILL forgot to get anything!!! At least it looked as if some thought went into it (hope she doesn't read my blog...LOL). Needless to say our wedding anniversary (which also fell on Mother's day was forgotten).

My children woke me with the blinding turning on of the bedroom light...v v eager to share their purchases from the school's Mother's Day Stall. Here is what I received.....

Miss 6 gave me the VERY blingy earings and 10 min Makeover Body Shop voucher and Mast 10 gave me a new coffee mug for work, complete with Tim Tams and a Vegemite sachet....for that Brekky in bed!! Now for all those SU folk out there....am I crazy in thinking that the pattern on the mug closely resembles the large flower from Fabulous Flowers (08-09 I B&C...pg 79 for those playing at home)?????

Thanks for popping by and I will endeavour to try and post a little more regularly.....sanity pending.

Stuff Used:

Stamps: (SU) A Rose Is A Rose, Lovely Letters Alphabet, Teeny Tiny Sentiments (in the middle not shown)

A Bevvy of Boxes - #2

Another day, another birthday. This time it is the step-daughter of my brother....aka Miss 12. I admit I did wuz out a little on the gift idea as 12 is nearly the same as 13....so the gift idea was the same, but the colour scheme different. Miss 12 is also a Type 1 diabetic like myself, so instead of chocolates, I sent a big bag of sugar-free fruit lollies for her to enjoy.

The colour scheme for this set was entirely based around a DP I found at my local craft haunt. By chance it happened to co-ordinate with Brocade Blue, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron and Bashful Blue. The card idea was inspired by this card fm SCS. This however was a square card and I had to make it to fit a rectangular card. Here's my version of the card...

A close up of the flower and sentiment. I used the Scallop Square Punch whole for the DP and then cut it doun for the Saffron and down again for the sentiment. That way I knew it would all fit together nicely. I think it worked well, and will definitely use it again (and cut straighter next time I do it!!).

and the box......

and the set together.....

More fun with more birthday antics coming up....stay tuned and thanks for dropping by.

Miss Jessica's Candle

I pondered for sometime what I could give to Jessica. Being a WORLD CLASS procrastinator it was hard!! Finally I decided to give her a Brith Candle. That was done...now all I had to do was find the right one!! The candle had to be at least 8 inches tall to fit her name....and white. FINALLY an 8" white pillar candle was found.....after 6 shops!!!!

I have to thank my best pal Tracey and her friend Michelle....and mordern technologhy (a webcam). Without all of these things, I would have NEVER finished this candle. This was the result....

I could not have been happier with the way it turned out. I used Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Orchid Opulence to match the card. It looked so good all together, which you'll have to trust me on cause it's the only aspect I did NOT have a pic of.....LOL!! Oh and here is a pic of Aunty Lynda and Miss Jessica....

For those of you who want to know more about stamping on candles, which by the way is sooooooooo easy, you can find a tutorial here.

Thanks for stopping by.

Stuff used:
Ink: (SU) Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence, Old Olive and Versa Colour Violet
Stamps: (SU) Lovely Letters Alphabet, Priceless, Merci. Numbers are a clear mount set that I do not know the name of.
Other bits: Heat Gun, Tissue Paper, Repositionalble Adhesive
