Baby Boom - II

Morning all.

Yes, another doctor in the practice where I work (there are 7 GP's in all of varying ages!) had a double blessing in her life recently. She became a Grandmother twice withing 6 weeks, both grandsons. I guess she opened her Grandmother account with a bang!! To celebrate the occasion, I made a card for both her and her husband to congratulate them on their grandchildren. I based it around the pram in the last post.

The pram is the same size as the card in the previous post, but this time Bashful Blue instead of Whisper White.

The sky is sponged using the same technique  as I used in the Puff the Magic Dragon and Angry Birds cards here and here. You will also find the link for it there.

I think the sentiment fitted the card perfectly. The new Grandmother LOVED it too, so I was also very happy!!

Thanks for popping by. Still more baby fun coming!

More Zero celebrations

Hi all.

In the upcoming posts, I will be sharing a multitude of same concept, different spin ideas that I have done for friends with ZERO birthdays.

Recently I have a Blog Buddy that celebrated one such milestone!!! I have never met this gal, but she has a passion of coffee (a kindred spirit indeed)...take a bow Leonie Schroder. Now I had to take a bit of a stab-in-the-dark with a colour scheme, because trawling through Leonie's blog did not really give up any real clues!!!

The idea I had in mind was this FAB and super cute Bird House post it holder by Cynthia Richards. I downloaded the tute and started to work. Essentially it is easy peasy to put together, the only real modification I made was at the base with adding a Round Tab Punch to help it sit up a little better. I also added a wee slip for the pen to go to through at the base. Given the gift was based around an easel format, I made a matching card too. Here are the two together.......

closed.......

...and open in all their easel wonder......

The bird houses are made identically for both the card and holder. I sponged ALL edges which made a big difference actually!!! There is fine detail all over with texture in the bird wing, the roof and even the letterbox lid!! Here is the card and the post it holder detail close up......

The flowers were stamped with the "dotty centre" from the Mixed Bunch stamp set and then the flowers were punched out and layered.

The bird sits pretty on a branch from the XL bird punch and the post box was done with the 1 1/4 inch square punch, double punched just to nip a corner....if that makes sense. The post is a word window punch cut lengthwise and trimmed. on the second pic you can see how the addition of the round tab punch helps the whole thing sit.

There are MANY punches, pieces and things used in this and I will try to list them all. If I have missed anything out, ask the question when you leave a comment and I will get back to you with an answer!!

Thanks for popping by....much more to share very soon....including a fab teen male card!!!

Christmas CASE - #3

Good Morning all!!

Is anyone else feeling the impending time and pressure of Christmas? I must admit this year I am feeling it terribly!!!

This is the 2nd card I turned out from the visit to my friend's place. It is based on a tag that I saw on SCS here. I expanded and added a little to make it into a cute and a little bit of a cheeky Christmas card.

I will admit to a small squeal of delight escaping when the final piece was placed on this card. The Santa vest was achieved by stamping the Santa tag from the Tags 'Til Christmas set and then punching it out in the Owl Punch. Add some Summer Sun SWM for the belt.....and Santa was complete. The hat is a Carla Craft CP2 Heart with a small trim of a Word Window Punch for the trim.

Finished off with  the Scallop Square punch and the sentiment.....

I have since made a couple of more versions of this card, but have not yet photographed them.

Thanks for popping by. I hope I am not boring you with all of this CASE-ing.

Pumpkin Mash!!!!

Hi all.

I thought I would visit Our Creative Corner again and see if I could do another one of their challenges. This time around it is Pumpkin/Pumpkin Pie Challenge. Thanksgiving is approaching in the USA, so it is to use a pumpkin in your design, or the colour Pumpkin Pie. Either was going to be a challenge for me, because it is a colour I have, but rarely use. Due to my procrastination.....I also missed the deadline!!!! Tui was kind enough to advise me that (purely by good luck and fortune) that the card may also fit THIS weeks OCC challange - Gratitude/Thanksgiving. It had this pic to provide the inspiration.....

I hit my CASE file again and stumbled across this gem from Steph. Now it was back from 2009...so just as well I keep lots of things at the ready!! I got my bits and pieces out and came up with this for the challenge.....

This was such a challenge for me....you have NO IDEA!!! I had the card folded already to stamp, and stamped it the incorrect way....so that the card opened backwards. Solution, I cut the front off it, made it still and then can stick it to another card, or perhaps another project down the track. I even managed to find some Pumpking Pie ric-rac I received as blog candy a LONG time ago. Lends itself tot he scallops/soft edges. Again...it also matches the tones or the Thanksgiving picture.

The image panel is done with Botanical Blooms (SAB '09). The flowers are stamped in Pumpkin Pie and leaves in Soft Suede.

Thanks Steph for the inspiration and thanks to the gals at Our Creative Corner for really getting me out of my comfort box and challenging me no end!!

On a separate note, Andrea has reached a mammoth milestone of 200,000 hits. To thank her readers, she passed on this award.

Now I have to forward this to at least 3 friends who have encouraged me and shown me some blog love too.....so thanks so much to....

# Tui

There are many more. Most of these ladies have already been awarded by Andrea, so please don't think I have forgotten/neglected you. I appreciate all that pass by my blog and take the time to comment.

Thanks for dropping by.

A CASE of Digital Proportions

Hey all!

Can you keep a secret??? I have been a little bad. I have be going slowly NUTS with this darn neck thing. I have sketched soooooooo many cards that you will be over-run with posts once I get the all clear and get them made!!! I have read Stamping and Crafting Mags, (finally) sorted all my SU stuff into the new colour groups, gone through my stamps and decided which ones I wanna part with and repackaged my punches. On the upside I am all organised and ready to go when the green light flashes!!

But...I was bad....I HAD TO STAMP!!! I kept things relatively CAS (clean and simple) so as to not be in a bad position for too long. I also made a CASE of a card I saw on SCS here. Apparently in the US they have a digital studio thing that means that you can print elements of a set out as you wish. At least I think that's the idea. Anyhow, I made 2 versions with just a minor tweak of the embellishments.

As you can see one one card I have the 1/2 pearls midway & on the other at the bottom. I have also moved the position of the bow according to balance. I am very happy with the results. It is also my first use of Elements of Style. This set is gunna be a long time fave I think. The hummingbird is stamped onto the card and then onto a wide oval punch and then positioned over the original on dimensionals. It was easy to line up with a SAMJ....to get perfect lines!! I thought the "Happy" from "Life Definitions is a nice sentiment on a birthday card.

I hope you like these cards as much as I do. I have another round of CAS cards to share later. thanks for dropping by.

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Elegant Sioree DSP

Stamps: (SU) Elements of Style, Life Definitions (ret)
Punches: (SU) Scallop Border and Wide Oval Punch
