Old Style Butterfly

I have had some more fun with the wonderful "Fly Free" set from The Craft's Meow. I am even entering this card into a challenge on The Pink Elephant. They want a vintage style card....and given that I am kinda into this style at the moment, I thought I'd give it a whirl. Now I made 2 similar cards, but it is this one I am entering into the challenge......

I combined a whole lot of different elements for this card. The DP has an old world paisley print on it, which lent itself nicely to the vintage theme. I am also a HUGE fan of the cage image. Reminds me of the old cast iron cages that once were.

The edge was embossed with the Tulips embossing folder from SU and the image was raised slightly.

Of course....doing one, I HAD to do another.....

These are the 2nd type of vintage cards I have done with this set. If you missed the first ones, you can find them here.

Thanks for dropping by. More creative frivolity to be had soon.

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Blue Bayou (ret), Sage Shadow (ret), My Mind's Eye No 2 Blue Paisley Paper (item # OA1012)
Ink: (SU) Not Quite Navy
Stamps: TCM - Fly Free and Butterfly Kisses
Other Bits: SU Tulips Embossing Frame, Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die, Dimensionals, Martha Stewart Piped Nylon 3/8" ribbon in Silver Sage

Crafter's Retreat 2011 #3

The following cards are expamples of how bits come together to make real an idea bouncing around a brain. At the last Craft Expo at Rosehill Racecourse, I stumbled upon some magical DP that had giant clocks all over it. I was immediately reminded of the stamp set "Sense of Time". Only thing was...I do not own it....but Bestie did. So a few e mails later...she promised to bring it to camp with her, so I could have a play. I wanted to have a play with all things vintage again....so here's the results.....

                                                                                 #1

I left the sentiments off some of the cards...so I could decide later. The clocks on #1 and #2 are matted on a piece of Early Espresso to show a v v thin 1mm border.

                                                                             #2

and #3

As you can see I stamped off the ink and continued the "cog" motif around the edge of the card and the DP. I also popped up the clock on a dimensional.

I am really loving playing with the Tim Holtz inks. They sponge on so v v easily and evenly...and you gotta love that!!!!

Stuff Used:
CS: (SU) Very Vanilla, Early Espresso and Kaisercraft "Timeless Collection" ~ P657 - World map...flip side is the clocks!!) and P656 - Script
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo, Tea Dye and Black Soot
Stamps: (SU) Sense of Time
Other Bits: Dimensionals

Vintage Class #2

These are the very FIRST cards I have tried in the Vintage style...and I am so very, VERY happy with the way they turned out. As usual, the pics do not do them justice, but trust me when I say they DO look like they have come out of Nanna's tea chest.

Once again I have used the DarkRoom Door "Noel" set that I used in the previous post. I have used Tim Holtz ink as well as an SU one and they worked BRILLIANTLY together. I liked the first card, but I thought the background was a little bare.

SU Chocolate Chip and TH Frayed Burlap Distress ink complimented beautifully. I am SOOOOOOOO in love with these images.

I also distressed the edges to add a more vintage feel.

And of course the magical "Noel"

For the 2nd card I stamped the background with the large ornament, that was stamped off a couple of times to lessen the intensity. Many "You Tube" clips were watched trying to get this technique right....and it is gunna take some time, but I am still happy.

The stamped off ornament..note to self don't press so hard next time...hee hee hee!!

And of course, the devine face of Santa in this STUNNING DP. I based the colours around the DP.

Thanks for enduring it to the end of this very long post, but I just wanted to share so much. Expect some more vintage stuff in the months to come.

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler
DP: KaiserCraft 'Tis the Season Collection - St. Nick (P565)
Ink: (SU) Chocolate Chip, Tim Holtz Distress ink "Frayed Burlap"

Just a Little Late!!!

This is what I gave the Dad's for Father's Day this year. It was all inspired by this card that I found on EnchantINK. She has used an old White Pages phone book for the background paper....how cool!!!!

This is my version.

Now you are not seeing double. I actually did 2 different versions. On the 2nd card...I sponged the edges of the tags and sentiments,,,the effect being a tad more vintage.

This is unsponged...

This is sponged....

I also put the strip with the sentiment on it through the crimper...again, just to bloke it up a bit. Sadly this is not really reflected in any of the pics I took!!!!

The old vintage dictionary paper was a bargain find at Alice's. Only 50 cents a sheet (12 x 12)...so I did my crafting patriotic right and stocked up!!! Sorry it took so long to post these, but it is a case of better late than never!!!

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Vintage Dictionary DP fm Alice's (non SU)
Ink:(SU) Chocolate Chip, Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip Stamp and Write Marker
Stamps: (SU) Teeny Tiny Sentiments, Whimsical Lowercase Alphabet (ret.)
Punches: (SU) Word Window Punch, Small Tag Punch
Other bits: Pewter Brads, Crimper, Twine, SU Dimensionals

Vintage Effort

Last Saturday (27th March) I attended a Vintage Card Workshop at my local craft hang out, Alice in Paperland. I was very eager to say the least to try, and at least get a vague grip of, this technique. I had a fab time, but the downside for me was that we were expected to do 6 cards and 1 tag in 2 hrs with nothing precut and no written instructions. So in the end I completed 3 of them and took pictures on my mobile phone of the other 3 cards and traced the template tag...of course to complete at a later date.

Bargain of the day I HAVE to say was a mega box of really old laces that belonged to an elderly lady, that were given to the instructor, for us to go through and take for 20 CENTS a metre. Needless to say I indulged in a couple of them and picked up a couple of clear buttons too.

Here they are....drum roll please...(not)!!

I love how we had to stamp a script image on the flower. Never would have thought of that before!!!

I am really hanging out to try some more of these types of cards in the future...and of course I also got some appropriate papers to play with too!! (LOL)
