Bevvy of Butterflies

Morning all.
Bestie asked me to make a Fantasy Box for her daughter at some stage. You may recall, for Christmas 2010....I kinda went mad making them and have not made one since. The links for making them can be found through here. Now Miss "turning 9" has very discerning tastes. She scrapbooks with her Mum and also makes the occasional card....so the pressure was on. I also knew she had a thing for butterflies, so I chose this as my main theme.

I went to Alice In Paperland and fell TOTALLY in love with some Cristina Re paper. I am not sure of the brand of the butterfly paper, it may be her as well, but I know both the white/ivory papers are Cristena Re. You know that feeling when you see a paper and you KNOW that is it the PERFECT one for what you have in mind....this was one such finding.

This is Miss 9's Fantasy box...

(Warning....from this point on...lots of pics!!!)

Top                                                                                                                             one side

Centre Front                                                                                                                   Other Side

Open front                                                                                        Open Inside

Sneaky butterflies on the inside                                                      and lining the drawers

Now I had a little paper left over, so I used them to make the card.......

The butterfly is on dimensionals, and the close up gives you an idea of the amazing texture and sheen of the papers.

...and of course...the two together.....

Miss 7 (after her triumph of making grand-dad's card) Made Miss 6 a card too, and here is hers...

Thanks so very much for tolerating all the pictures. This was definitely a project that had a lot of heart and soul in it and I was so very happy with the final result. As you can appreciate there were a lot of things used and I will try to list them all.

Flight of Fantasy - #3

It is now with great pleasure I can post the last of my final fantasy boxes. The young lady who received it (again...another 11 yo) was in shock. Once the wrapping came off...and se pulled off the lid...it gently uncurled....and then the eyes bluged. "Whoa" and "So cool" were muttered.

I finally got a chance to take pics outside again...woo hoo!!!! I think it does justice to the vibrancy of the colours...and I was very lucky to find he right sized flowers to compliment it. Kez may regognise the paper!!

Thanks again for popping by. Quite a few of you out there have stated that you are going to give these delightful boxes a go...so please do...I can vouch that they are the PERFECT gift for 9-14yo girls!!

Stuff used:

And her's a close up of the dragonfly.

#4 Last but not least was for Miss 11 (yes there are 2 of them!!) She is a very gentle, pastel kind of soul and I think this reflects her personality just perfectly.

Thanks again so much for stopping by.

Flight of Fantasy - #1

With Christmas done and dusted for another year (and PS....who else also thought it came 4 weeks earlier this year??) I thought I'd share some of the things I made for friends and relatives. You may or may not have seen these beautiful boxes called Fantasy or Stepper Boxes. 2 of the many sites that show you 'how to' can be found here and here.

I have 5 'tweens' that I had to think of something for and knowing they love all things blingy, I thought that these could be made into a jewellery box or secret keeper for them. So...after a couple of calls to Mums for colour schemes....the production line was ON!!!

I'll be gentle and share only a couple of them with you per post...as some of them are very bright. All of the papers, flowers and chipboard for these projects were found at Alice In Paperland. It is my all time favourite hangout for anything crafty. The dragonflies on the front were another magical bargain find at the local "Hot Dollar" discount store.

I also want to apologise for the very 'white' background in the pics. When it came time to photograph, there was a very nasty wind outside meaning NOTHING was going to stand and be kept safe with any certainty. The next best option was one used. At least it shows the colours well.

#1 went to Miss 14 who had a bright pink feature wall in her romm and the words 'bright and funky' were used. BTW - the inside contrasts were achieved by using the other side of the double sided paper. The end result was the following.....

#2 went to Miss 9 who was "soft , pink and girly". Hers looked like this....

Needless to sat all the girs were over the moon. Each of the boxes contained hair elastics and either a couple of pairs of earings or a bling necklace with their initial.

I'll be back with more soon to show you. Can't post # 5 yet as it is still to be given....LOL!! Gotta love relos who live in the country!!
Thanks for stopping by. Have fun, smile and be creative.
