Just a Little Late!!!

This is what I gave the Dad's for Father's Day this year. It was all inspired by this card that I found on EnchantINK. She has used an old White Pages phone book for the background paper....how cool!!!!

This is my version.

Now you are not seeing double. I actually did 2 different versions. On the 2nd card...I sponged the edges of the tags and sentiments,,,the effect being a tad more vintage.

This is unsponged...

This is sponged....

I also put the strip with the sentiment on it through the crimper...again, just to bloke it up a bit. Sadly this is not really reflected in any of the pics I took!!!!

The old vintage dictionary paper was a bargain find at Alice's. Only 50 cents a sheet (12 x 12)...so I did my crafting patriotic right and stocked up!!! Sorry it took so long to post these, but it is a case of better late than never!!!

Stuff used:
CS: (SU) Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Vintage Dictionary DP fm Alice's (non SU)

Stamps: (SU) Teeny Tiny Sentiments, Whimsical Lowercase Alphabet (ret.)

Smile for the Birdie

One of the Doctors at my work was a bridesmaid at a wedding recently and wanted a clean and simple (CAS) card. There was no gift giving at the wedding, just cash, so the 'wrapping' had to be something special. I set to the task. I found this on SCS which filled the CAS criteria, however I did not like the colour combo. I ended up settling on Shimmer Ivory and Gold paper.

As most card makers will know though, in your mind you have a pretty good idea of the finished product, but when it appears, you are not QUITE there. This is the ORIGINAL, similar to the SCS one.

Although I was a little more than OK with it, I thought I could do better, so I did the next best thing.....I ripped off the bow and replaced it with a gold embossed sentiment....with this result....

The final result gave me a better sense of what I was after and I hope you share the same sentiment. The Doc was MORE than happy with her 'wrapping' and she also kindly passed on the kind words of the bride who theought the card was stunning (##blush##).

Thanks for stopping by.

A Pea in a Pod!!

One of the gal's in my netball team recently had a beautiful baby girl (Meredith Lily) on July 26th. I wanted to do something a bit different for the card and I recalled seeing these beautiful "Sweet Pea" cards on Andrea Walford's blog here.

I based the card on the picture she had on the post. I used shimmering white card, which when stamped gave a slightly uneven texture, which I liked. I took the pics of this card at the netball courts, hence the not-so-fantastic lighting. Here's what I came up with.....

I have not really sponged much before and this little "Pea" definitely makes up for it!! I think I ended up sponging everything I could that was green at least. here is the pea pod close up and here sweet little face...and yes I even tied the ribbon!!!

I struggled with what to use for the flowers, but then I remembered a nice shape I had that would do the job. I sponged the edges og the flowers in Elegant Eggplant and then used a Leonie-M small sun punch for the centres to tie in the green/purple theme. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments, which I am LOVING at the moment. No occasion is forgotten with this set!!

It was so very nice to do a card for a baby girl that wasn't inundated with THAT colour (hee hee hee).

Thanks for stopping by. Catch you all soon.

Thanks Coach!!

Today is the AFL AGM and Presentation Day. I volunteered to make the thank you card for my son's coach this year. The only real challenge was to make a masculine card from the team colours - Purple and White!!! The team's name is the North Ryde Dockers and the white jersey is emblazened with a purple anchor down the middle of it.

Now, an anchor, the size I needed it to be, is a hard thing to find and even harder in PURPLE!!! My bestie recently aquired a Circut "Cricket" and she boasted that nothing is impossible for this thing to cut. With this in mind, I gave her the dimensions of the anchor I required and the colour it had to be. She searched her files and VOILA!!!! I had the start of a card. A star here and a number there....and you have it.....a (hopefully) masculine looking purple and white card!!! I apologise for the not so great photography.

It was also the first time I had attempted a banner for the sentiment, and I think I need a tad more practice, but was happy with the way it turned out. It sat up a little off the card. The sentiment is from the "Just Jawing" set. Since the group of boys the card is from are 9-10yrs old, I thought it was appropriate. The numbers on the card represent the numbers worn by each of the team. They keep the number for the duration of their time at the club, which I think is lovely.

Thanks for stopping by. Would appreciate hearing your thoughts on the card.

Stuff used:
Card: (SU) Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant
Ink: (SU) Elegant Eggplant
Stamps: (SU) Just Jawing
Punches: SU small star punch (ret), Carla Craft CP2 Star,  Square punch (to nip the corner of the banner).
Other bits: Upkit gold sticker Numbers from Alice's.

A Bevvy of Boxes - #2

Another day, another birthday. This time it is the step-daughter of my brother....aka Miss 12. I admit I did wuz out a little on the gift idea as 12 is nearly the same as 13....so the gift idea was the same, but the colour scheme different. Miss 12 is also a Type 1 diabetic like myself, so instead of chocolates, I sent a big bag of sugar-free fruit lollies for her to enjoy.

The colour scheme for this set was entirely based around a DP I found at my local craft haunt. By chance it happened to co-ordinate with Brocade Blue, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron and Bashful Blue. The card idea was inspired by this card fm SCS. This however was a square card and I had to make it to fit a rectangular card. Here's my version of the card...

A close up of the flower and sentiment. I used the Scallop Square Punch whole for the DP and then cut it doun for the Saffron and down again for the sentiment. That way I knew it would all fit together nicely. I think it worked well, and will definitely use it again (and cut straighter next time I do it!!).

and the box......

and the set together.....

More fun with more birthday antics coming up....stay tuned and thanks for dropping by.

A Bevvy of Boxes - #1

Hi all!

September for me is a birthday ONSLAUGHT!!!! If I told you how many family/friends/relos etc had birthdays in September.....you would not believe me. Consequently I am FLAT chat trying to get cards and gifts done for all. Over the next couple of posts I am going to share some of the co-ordinating gifts I started the month with.

Miss Niece turned 13. Now as all of you with girls know, this is a FANTASTIC age (not) to buy for. Of course, Aunty Lynda did not wish to "dag-out" also. I had a dig around in my crypt of projects and found a delightful box fm the incredibly talented Makeesha Byl here. Perfect for something small and personal. I also recently aquried the Inspired by Nature stamp set and was hanging to try it out. Now Miss 13 is a very girly girl, so I went for (gasp) PINK and dulled it down a bit with Rose Red. Here's what I came up with....

The card....

The box.....

The set together....

And the most surprising thing for me....was what I could fit inside.....

It's amazing the little treasures you find when you look closely at the shelves in stores. The box contained a 25g bar of Dove Beauty soap, a 50ml bottle of Lux bodywash and a tube of Vanilla scented lip frosting...perfect I thought for a girly girl.....Oh yeah...and of course some Lindt Chocolates!! What do you think??

Thanks for stopping by. I'll be back with a variation on a theme later.

Stuff Used:
Stamps: (SU) Inspired By Nature, Amy R "Birthday Sentiments"
Card: (SU) Rose Red, Whisper White, Bali Breeze DSP (now retired)
Ink: (SU) Markers Mellow Moss and Rose Red, So Saffron ink pad
Punch: Martha Stewart Double Loop Punch
Other Bits: Dimensionals,  Brad fm Reject Shop bargain buy!!

Cheryl has also reached just over 60,000 blog hits which is amazing. She also has been recreating herself in that she has lost an amazing amount of weight which is inspiring many. To celebrate all these milestones, Cheryl has got some blog candy going. Just clicck on the link to her blog and the post is at the top. Here's what she has going....

I love these stamps so very much. I would love to be able to colour them as well as others out there.....but to practise....I guess I need to get some first!!!!

I think Cheryl has done the most amazing job with all the milestones she has reached. My heartfelt congratulations on all of them darl.

Tea for One (#1)

As most of you may know....I love my netball. Not so long ago whilst playing against a bunch of 14/15yo's (PS.....my team STARTS at 40yo!!) I sustained a minor knee tweak. To say the least it was frustrating and the fluid continued in spurts and fits. Thankfully, I have a physio at my work and she is amazing. She noticed me hobbling one arvo and offered to take a look for me. She diagnosed the problem, gave me some exercises and ordered a new piece of hardware for the knee. This helped me make it through the rest of the season with no more fluid. Nancy is AMAZING!!! She was so very generous with her knowledge and time.....I wanted to do something nice for her. This is what I came up with...

It is based on a teabag holder that I saw on SCS here. These teabag holders are so easy and a lot of fun to do and I think make a great little gift. Here are some other angles for your enjoyment!!

Give these teabag holders a go....you won't be sorry!!

More comebacks than Melba!!!!

Both my MIL and FIL have been workers at Australia Post FOREVER. My MIL finally decided to retire.....after threatening to do so many times. This time 'was it and FINAL!!" So to commemorate such an auspicious occasion, I marked it with a card. I made it at a play date at my bestie's house. She had aquired the SU bird punch and let me have a play. I had seen similar versions of this card on SCS and here's what I came up with...

It let me also have a play with my relatively new nesties (Labels 8) which is a similar shape to the SU top note die. Dunno if I am happy with my sun in the top left hand corner.....but it needed something!! Here are some close ups anyhow....

In the weeks since I made this card...I have since aquired the bird punch and will show you some other creations with it.

Ink: (SU) Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence, Pale Plum, So Saffron (chalk)
