What I Made for Christmas - #4

Morning all.

Last Christmas make for a couple of posts...I promise. This last one was also a challenge. Amongst all the kids....is 1 nephew (Master 8)...not incl my son of course. His Mum happened to let it slip that he has been engrossed in "Diary of a Wimpy Kid". So,I made him his own diary that he can jot his thoughts and feelings down in. He is the brother of Miss 16 and 14! His diary was also a lot larger than the others (A4), it took 2 pieces of DP to cover it.

For the label, I stamped off the stars in So saffron from the Just Jawing set. Worked well I think!!??

The top was looking a little bare with just the planets and there was a rocket ship on the off cut. I trimmed around it and put it amongst the planets.

I think he was pretty happy with it.

To accompany all the notebooks for the girls, I made tiny desk caddies to hold their bits and pieces. I got the idea from Rubber Redneck (Holly Krautkremer) here. The go up very quickly and hold lots! Perfect for the age group.

What I Made For Christmas - #2

Good Morning.
Here are another 2 altered notebooks, this time for siblings Miss 14 and Miss 11. The paper for Miss 14's notebook was the one NOT in the 60 cent pile, but I think it turned out to be my favourite. She is a real purple lover but the blue woven into this DP had me sold from the get go.

What I Made for Christmas - #1

Hi all.

Well given that we are nearly half way through January, I thought I should share with you the things that I made for my nieces, nephews and friends. I am going to break them up into a few posts, but know that each reflects the receivers personality. The other brilliant thing is that the papers used I got at my favourite Paper Crafting store (Alice in Paperland) for the bargain price of just 60 cents a sheet (with the exception of 1).

Today I am sharing siblings Miss 16 and Miss 14. All the girls received notebooks that were A6 in size.

The DP's looks so great, this is how they looked in their entirety.

The things I carried through all the notebooks are the flower motif and the wee double heart charm. the lace was all the same, but I added another narrow contrast ribbon to make it pop. The flowers (I thought anyhow) looked fantastic. Sadly I did not have any black paper flowers so I tried to colour a white one with ink....and nearly got there.

Here is a close up of the lace and ribbon/ric-rac.

The girls also received something small for their dressers, which I will feature in another post.

Thanks for popping by.

Stuff used:

Other Bits: Lace, Ric-Rac, Paper Flowers and Double Heart Silver Charms all from Alice In Paperland, Brads fm stash, Double Sided Tape (lots of it)

For (Another) Friend

Sincere apologies for having been absent for a bit. September is the start of the birthday onslaught season for me and this week just gone I have had 8 birthdays in 1 week alone!!! As a result....I have much to share with you, I just need the time to post it all!!

I have a dear friend who LOVES the colour YELLOW!!! A lot of you may know her and when you see the photos of the gift I made for her...the dots will join! She is incredibly strong and durable with all that she does in her daily living and I wanted to send her a little something to show her how special I think she is. My real challenge for this was that I RARELY use yellow....hee hee hee.

For the card, I used a layout that I had done here.

I used a Mustard SWM with the Saffron which gave a lovely effect.....

For the diary I made, I found a luscious flocked yellow paper at my local craft store. From there it all came together quite nicely. Here is the diary...

I kissed the edges of the yellow flower with Chocolate Chip ink to "vintage" up the whole feel.

The flocked paper made the diary feel so lovely underneath your fingers

Finally, here is the gift and card together......

Thanks for popping by. Be sure to do so fairly regularly over the next couple of weeks as I have lots of boxes and more co-ordinated gift sets to share with you.

Stuff Used:

Something for Sonia....

Hey there. I hope for you on the eastern coast of Australia that you are all going OK. We have had floods in both Qld and Vic, A horrific cyclone in Northern Qld and NSW is experienceing a very uncomfortable heatwave at the moment. Today we have an expected top temp in the mid 30's, yesterday we hit 41.5 and to make matters worse...the nights have been nothing short of UGLY and uncomfortable. It is not easy to sleep well in 25-30 degC heat at night. We do not have aircon....just the good grace of all windows open.

Anyhow...back to today's post. You may have noticed that I have been a part of Inkspirations4U. I was very fortunate to win a pass through Sonia Garbutt....and I believe she has another promotion running for the next round starting soon. So, if you are interested in challenging yourself and having a heap of fun and gaining access to FAB tutorials...pop over and give it a go.

Some weeks back, I had the good fortune to meet the incredibly talented Sonia face to face with her 2 beautiful gals. I wanted to make her something special to thank her for giving me the opportunity to experience some wonderful things...as well as challenge myself further with pink!!! This is what I made for Sonia.....

This notebook is A7 size, but I still managed to fit quite a bit on it. The DP is a dictionary one I used for my Father's day cards here. To bring all the colours together I used my Tim Holtz distress inks in Aged Mahogany, Frayed Burlap and Vintage Photo. I also used the Mahogany on the petals of the red flower do dull down its intensity as it started out Christmas Red. The lace is courtesy of a vintage workshop I did at Alice in Paperland's some time back. tthere was a MASSIVE tub of lace that a lady had donated and we could take what we wished and donate as many gold coins that we felt represented what we had taken. Needless to say I could have gone MAD, but did manage to get some intricate laces for a very reasonable price.

Across the white flower I stamped a small script stamp from Kaszazz in Vintage Photo. To finish it off I popped in a pewter brad. The letters are  in SU Cherry Cobbler. The back is very simple....

Sonia also surprised me with something amazing that I will show you in a later post.

Thanks for cruising on by and I hope that next time....it is somewhat cooler. Take care all.
